Things I dreamed about last night that I wish were real:

1. Breaking Bad the musical
2. Jeremy Jordan as Jesse Pinkman in Breaking Bad the musical
3. Me making out with Jeremy Jordan

Note to self: Smash + pizza before bed = strange but wonderful things.

Linkspam:

* Jason Dohring is officially on board for the Veronica Mars movie.

* Pics from Thor 2. They lack Tom Hiddleston, therefore I am unimpressed.

* It remains unconfirmed, but I would love to see J. August Richards on S.H.I.E.L.D.

* Teaser for Marvel's Phase 2. It's about 75% Iron Man 3, but still some really cool-looking stuff in there. Still struggling to care about Ant-Man and Guardians of the Galaxy, but that may be my Avengers bias (i.e., why should I care about these new people? Give me the characters I loved in Phase 1).

* Pics from The Originals spinoff, if you're into that sort of thing.

* Jon Hamm talks about the upcoming season of Mad Men. Highlight: discussion of Don Draper as a high-functioning sociopath.

* John Slattery also has an interview about Mad Men. Plus, check out the season 6 promo photos.

* Finding Nemo is getting a sequel, Finding Dory. Also, what your favorite Pixar movie says about you.

* Matthew Rhys talks about his role on The Americans.

* They're no longer being auctioned off, but you can still watch clips of audition tapes from A-list actors, most of whom didn't get the roles. Some are good, others are hilariously bad.

* I'm rather looking forward to David Tennant in Spies of Warsaw, so here, have an interview. Anyone else planning to watch?

Happy Wednesday, boys and girls. My mother asked me for restaurant recommendations near Times Square for this weekend. I tried to send her to Guy Fieri's new place, hoping to see if it was as bad as this review makes it sound, but alas, she has discovered The Google and checked it out for herself and will probably never trust my restaurant recommendations again.

* Mad Men season 6 has a premiere date (April 7) and some spiffy promo pics. Also, ten incredibly vague and kind of obvious facts about season 6, because Matthew Weiner hates spoilers but TV writers need something to talk about.

* Lots of new shows in the works for next season. Obviously not all of them will make it to series (THANK GOD. Some of those pilots sound dreadful), but I was intrigued to see that Delirium is being made into a TV show. I read and reviewed the book a while back and quite liked it (it's actually the first in a trilogy). Also, I thought there already WAS a US version of Gavin and Stacey? Did I make that up?

* If, like me, you've been meaning to catch up on Classic Who, BBC America will be airing one complete serial for each incarnation of the Doctor. Granted, most of the series is already on Netflix, but this might be good motivation for me to actually watch it instead of letting it languish in my queue. Also, new Doctor Who episodes start March 30.

* In honor of the dramatic drop in temperature in DC this week, two snow and ice links: The People vs. Winter (hilarious) and a Chicago warehouse completely encased in ice (incredible and kind of terrifying).

Links:

* Mad Men's Matthew Weiner and Christina Hendricks talk about "The Other Woman".

* In case you were worried, Peggy's departure from SCDP does not mean she's leaving the show. In fact, Elisabeth Moss and the show's other stars are finalizing deals for seasons 6 and 7.

* Joss Whedon is directing Avengers 2 and involved in a possibly-related Marvel TV show.

* Like Homeland? Now you can watch the original Israeli series that inspired it. It's available on Hulu.

* Latest Catching Fire casting: Meta Golding as Enobaria. I... kind of facepalmed, ngl. I mean, I'm not surprised. But. So far, the only POC casting is the cannibalistic killer? Really?

Memes:

* Name a character, and I'll name a book I think he/she enjoys.

* Comment with a pairing – ANY pairing – and I will comment with ONE GIF expressing my feelings about that pairing.

* Check my fandoms, my favorite characters, the pairings I like the most, my kinks, my fictional crushes, anything. Now, in a friendly and possibly teasing way, point out the obvious and not so obvious trends or fetishes you see in my tastes. Maybe I'm nuts for all vampire stories, or have a thing for men who smoke, or I'm fond for the tsundere archetype, or I'm into rival slash. Let's point out all of those you've noticed I tend to squee about during our friendship.

1. I'm now all caught up with Breaking Bad. OMG SO GOOD EVERYONE SHOULD WATCH THIS SHOW. And conveniently (well, sort of...) AMC is rerunning the entire series every day until the season 5 premiere in July... granted, they're generally at 1AM-4AM-ish, so it helps to have a DVR or be on a vampire's sleep schedule, but you really should watch it. I'd say it's among the top five best shows ever. Definitely one of the best-acted, and it is by far and away the most gorgeous show on TV. Those desert vistas, man...

Talk to me, BB fans! I am now unspoilable!

P.S. Dear Jesse Pinkman, I have a blanket and a cup of tea waiting for you. Let's cuddle. Love, me.

2. Mad Men season finale? I am surprisingly meh. Granted this was much more of a denouement episode after the HUGE events of the last two weeks, but the only thing I was really thinking after the finale is that I would totally watch a spin-off of Don and Peggy MST3K-ing at the movies. Also LOL at the number of times Pete Campbell has been punched in the face this season.

3. Anyone watching Bunheads? Stupidest title ever, but it's a very Gilmore Girls-y show from Amy Sherman-Palladino, with Broadway star Sutton Foster (whom I saw in Thoroughly Modern Millie and thinks she's adorbs). I've only seen the pilot (it premiered last night, but it's been available online for a while now) and I'm still very undecided. The first episode is very heavy on setting up the premise, so I don't feel like I have a sense of what the actual show will be like.

4. New web series to check out: WIGS. It's an ongoing project that produces high quality webisodes and short films, all featuring female protagonists. I'm really enjoying "Jan," about a photographer's assistant who's trying to break into the business, and "Blue," which features Julia Stiles as a call girl who hides her job from her teenage son. There's also "Serena," a short film with Jennifer Garner, but I haven't watched that one yet.

5. Dammit! Yvonne Strahovski (formerly of Chuck) will be guest starring on Dexter next season. Now I'm gonna have to watch it. In other news, apparently the Deb/Dexter thing isn't going away. FML.

6. Burn Notice is back this week!

For the most part, though, the summer is pretty light on TV. I have a TON of shows still on the to-watch list, so I welcome suggestions as to which should be next.

- Aaron Sorkin talks about The Newsroom. I remain cautiously optimistic, but laugh quietly at his apparent lack of self-awareness.

- Christina Hendricks talks about Joan's controversial decision. (The most recent one, that is.)

- Tom Hiddleston does a velociraptor impression.

- Just a heads up: the zombie apocalypse has begun.

* Kal Penn is leaving the White House again for a role on HIMYM. Memo to President Obama: Even though you have continually overlooked me and rehired Kal, like, six times, I would still be happy to replace him.

* Interview with Nestor Carbonell, everyone's favorite eyeliner-wearing immortal, who is SMG's costar in Ringer.

* Netflix is screwing everyone with ridiculous price hikes. I'll probably end up canceling either the DVDs or the streaming, but I haven't decided which one yet.

* With Friday Night Lights airing its series finale on NBC tomorrow, I have been completely torn between wanting to watch it as soon as possible and not wanting to because then it'll be over. Fortunately, you can relive the magic (or watch for the first time, if you're one of the unfortunate people who hasn't seen it) on ESPN.

* You can also catch up on Mad Men this summer if you're an early bird or have a DVR.

* Speaking of Mad Men, this What Would Don Draper Do? flowchart cracks me up.

* Emmy nominations have been announced. Things that are relevant to my interests under the cut.

Yikes! I only have up to Day 10 finished and ready to go. I guess I ought to get on that. And I have Lost season 3 finale thoughts! And a cooking post! Or, you know, I could do some actual work (work work AND school work) that I've been putting off forever.

In completely unrelated news, pls to be signing my petition expanding the calendar day to 30 hours so that I have enough time to fit everything in (and maybe possibly also sleep).

Hi, folks. Been MIA for a bit. I went home this weekend for a friend's wedding, which was fun and weird and exhausting, as usual. I'll probably talk more about it in a locked post, since it's personal RL stuff.

I think I'm all caught up on DW, but I have a thousand LJ tabs still open, so let me know if I've missed anything important.

I'm a little behind on TV - I know I have a Fringe episode to catch up on, and last night's Dexter. I also realized I skipped an episode of Caprica and didn't even notice until I read people's reaction posts, which does not bode well for my interest in this show. (For some reason, On Demand didn't have the first new episode up, but it DID have the second one before it aired, so I watched it, thinking it was the first one. Then I was wondering why people were talking about Zoe and Tamara because they weren't in the episode I saw, lol.) I'm going to try watching the episodes in order and see if I like it better, but if not, I'll probably be bidding adieu to Caprica.

I did catch the Mad Men season finale. This was one of those episodes where I watched the encore presentation immediately afterward, and the first time through I thought, "OMG I totally didn't see that coming!" and then the second time through, I was like, "Holy shit, how did I NOT see that coming?" Brilliant writing, that is.

So, I had all sorts of plans about reviewing TV shows as they premiered, but I'm getting rather behind, so here's the quick and dirty version. :) Going forward, I'm not going to make an effort to post about everything I watch - I'll comment if something strikes me, but as much as I'd love it if watching TV was my full-time job, I am not actually a TV critic, so I've got to keep it reasonable.

Mad Men

Mad Men is not a show I typically think of as funny. I mean, it has its moments (many involving Roger Sterling), but lawnmower antics aside, most of the humor is pretty dry. Not really laugh-out-loud funny, you know?

But sometimes it just hits it dead-on.

It helped that I was already sitting on the floor )

Update

First - MAD MEN IS BACK! I always kind of forget, because it's off the air for so long, how much I love this show. I mean, obviously I'm always like, "Oh, Mad Men, I love that show." But I never really get it until it comes back and I realize it's filled a void, you know?

I also apparently forgot which channel number AMC was, lol, because I missed the first five minutes as I frantically flipped through the channels trying to find it. (And then I was extra annoyed because they showed a one-hour preview for some other show after it instead of the usual encore, which meant I had to stay up way late in order to catch the beginning of the encore.)

In other TV news, I finally finished Rome. I don't know if it was me or the quality of the show, but I found myself getting bored a little more often in season 2 than in season 1. I liked it, but in a very detached way, such that I really didn't care about any of the characters. I mean, a LOT of people die in season 2, and I can't think of a single one that made me do more than shrug. (And it's not the "history is a spoiler" issue - I knew Caesar was going to die, and it still worked.)

I've decided to skip over Lost and Terminator for the time being (the former because I just don't have the mental energy right now, and the latter because I want to watch at least a couple of the movies first), and I watched series 1 of The Office (UK). It's weird how there's this sense of deja vu (especially in the first episode, which was almost identical), even though I know the UK version came first. I don't think I have an opinion yet on which is better, though at the moment I lean toward the US version, both because I saw it first and thus it is the standard to which the other is compared, and because I can identify with it better. Sometimes British jokes go over my head. :(
