So close to the end now, guys. I AM EXCITE.
DESSSMONNNDDDD!!!!! So, this is a new twist, with sideways!Charlie and Desmond "remembering" their other lives thanks to near-death experiences. I think I'm kind of maybe closer to understanding what's going on in the sideways universe? I had noted in my last reaction post that almost everyone (except Sayid, who apparently pissed off the universe and thus it will forever suck to be him) seemed to be much happier and better off in this timeline than in the real one. Not that it would take much to clear that bar, lol, but maybe the point is that they're meant to keep everyone happy enough that they don't ask any questions? Except Charlie's discovered the link, and Desmond, with his special Desmondy properties, can actually jump between timelines. Then Daniel Faraday remembering Charlotte, Hurley and Libby, it's like the walls are breaking down. Eloise seems to know what's what (as per usual) but is trying to keep Desmond from pursuing it. So, was I right that they have to choose which one to live in? Or do they all have to go back to the real timeline, even though for most of them, it means dying again?
What are Richard, Miles, and Ben up to, I wonder? It's been a while since we heard from them. Also, hey, anybody know if Rose and Bernard are still alive?!?
What I'm getting from Widmore is that he mainly is trying to destroy Smokey, but he's not terribly bothered if he also has to kill everyone else to do it - hence the bomb on the plane. Smokey, on the other hand, wants to kill everyone so that he can leave the island, but he's been lying about it so he can kill them all together? But supposedly he CAN'T kill them until the island is done with them or whatever, so how exactly does he plan to accomplish that? Jack seemed to think he wanted them to kill each other... but that clearly hasn't worked in the past, though certainly not for lack of trying. So is this just an efficient way of thinning the herd - whoever's still important will survive, and whoever's played their part will go down with the ship? Speaking of which...
No no no no nononononononono Sun and Jin nooooooooo! At least Sayid gets to go out on a good note (and it's not like he was doing anything anyway), but Sun and Jin's story ended so abruptly, and it makes me very upset! And they have a baby!!! :( :( :(
Hey, it's Allison Janney! And she's kinda crazy! But yay, finally we get the origin story (and the identity of Adam and Eve). Aww, mini-Jacob and... other boy who somehow manages to remain nameless. It was interesting how, at first, what with Allison Janney being all crazy and lying to them, I thought, "Wait, so maybe Smokey wasn't always the bad twin?" So then I kept waiting for the role reversal, and with each plot twist, I'd be like "...and this is where he turns evil, right?" "Okay, so THIS is where he turns evil... no?" But, as it turns out, Jacob's brother wasn't actually evil at all until Jacob did his thing. It's still unclear to me whether Jacob turned his brother into the smoke monster by throwing him down the rabbit hole, or if the smoke monster already existed, and Jacob woke it up or whatever by throwing his brother in there and it took over his body. In any case, it definitely muddies the waters on the whole good vs. evil thing. Also, it still doesn't explain where Allison Janney came from or why she needs to guard the rabbit hole.
I wonder, though, if the reason we have the group that we do - people who have done terrible things or have major regrets or whatever - is because Jacob has been looking for people like him, who understand how he felt about killing his brother.
The one other thing I'll note is that there seem to be an awful lot of extremely pregnant women washing up on shore - particularly interesting given that the island increases fertility but also somehow kills pregnant women. First Jacob and Nameless' mother, then Rousseau, and then Claire. And I'm sure it's not a coincidence that all four children were taken from their mothers and raised by someone else - especially since Claire was warned against letting that happen way back in the beginning. I wonder if Alex and Aaron were in some way supposed to be replacements for Jacob... but then shouldn't their names have been on Jacob's list instead of the six doofuses?
I have to go to class now, but only two episodes left!!! I should be done by this weekend. OMG!

SUN AND JIN. *monsoon on my face*
lol, don't question where Allison Janney came from. We're not supposed to think about these things.
I always felt SO FUCKING BAD for Smokey. Seriously. What a shitty life he had.

*dies* I love this explanation like burning.
Heh, I wonder how you'll feel about the finale. That was some controversial shit there.
