I'm up to episode 2.18 now. I'll be in New York this weekend, so no time to watch TV, which means the rest of this season will have to wait until next week. :( But here's some thoughts to ponder until then.

Question: Why is Jack still wearing the key around his neck? They’ve got a whole storage closet full of guns now, surely there’s no need for him to keep the key to that little suitcase the U.S. Marshal had. And I can’t keep track, but do they even bother recollecting the guns anymore? It seems like at least certain people seem to have them whenever they need them.

This probably goes without saying, but the Others seem kind of irrational with their whole “this is our island and you’re all trespassing” spiel. I mean, their plane crashed, it’s not like they settled here for shits and giggles. What exactly are they supposed to do? Swim home? I bet the Others are jealous, since, if Locke is right and the island did bring them there for a purpose, it means the island got tired of its current inhabitants and went to find some new friends. Sorry, losers, you just got dissed.

Haha, I loved when Jin said, “I don’t like being told what to do,” and Sun was all, “Um, neither do I, punk.” (I might’ve paraphrased that one.) I do like Jin now, but there are some things he still needs to work on.

Well, Charlie’s cracking up, lol. But he and his hood are so EMO. I can’t get over it.

Ha! As soon as I pointed out the thing about the key, like two episodes later, Jack decides it's time to take it off.

Oh, Sawyer. One step forward, two steps back. You are not helping your case here. (And neither is Kate, for that matter. I don't care how many times she says, "You want everyone to hate you," it's not going to make me feel sorry for Sawyer.) And can I just point out that it's not exactly a big surprise to find out that Sawyer set the whole thing up when it's a Sawyer episode and it's CALLED "The Long Con"? Unless you want your obvious plot twist to be obvious, I'd advise restructuring your episode. I was at least surprised by Charlie being the accomplice, though.

Henry Gale who arrived in a hot air balloon? Is that a Wizard of Oz reference? Unfortunately, this is one of those times when spoilers actually spoil, since I recognized Michael Emerson, so I know that dude’s Ben and I know he’s one of the Others, so this whole conflict that’s happening doesn’t have a lot of tension for me.

OMG TREE FROG! :( :( :( :( Sawyer, if you keep this up, you’re going to bump your way back up past Ana Lucia to the top of the list.

Locke, I am ashamed you keep falling for Ben’s blatantly obvious manipulation. You are smarter than that!

Okay, Jin, we are backsliding here. Ripping up Sun’s garden and manhandling her is NOT COOL, and if you keep up the overbearing protective crap, I will put you back on my shit list. Don’t test me.

Sawyer is reading Are You There, God? It’s Me, Margaret. OMG BRB LOLING FOREVER.

Ana Lucia: “People don’t like me.” Hahahaha I wonder why?

I like the effect they use occasionally where we’re in Jin’s POV and it sounds like the others are speaking gibberish. And aww, he fixed her garden. I forgive you, Jin! And ooh, Sun's pregnant!

Soooo… “Dave” is basically “Normal Again” with a little bonus fat shaming thrown in? Okay. Not gonna lie, I am having issues with them portraying Hurley’s weight as being a disorder. I mean, yes, that is something some people suffer from, but there are hardly any fat characters on TV as it is – why can’t we have a guy who’s fat without it being a problem, without him having to change? Why can’t he just be fat and that’s okay? I thought they were doing pretty well with Hurley, but this episode left a bad taste in my mouth. Oh well, at least Sawyer got the crap beat out of him. That was fun.

Hey, how about Libby? I figured that she'd probably been at the same mental hospital as Hurley, since these people are all bizarrely connected, but I expected that she was on staff there (being a clinical psychologist and all), not a patient.

And I suppose this means we can add “It’s all in Hurley’s head” to the list of explanations for what’s going on here (which, btw, includes “They’re all dead,” “Mass hallucination,” “Psychological experiment gone wrong,” and “God the Universe the Island did it”).

Yay you got to Ben! It sucks that you've been spoiled, since he was GREAT as Henry (I remember being SO tense about whether or not he was ever), but Ben (at least at his best) is seriously one of the better villains of all time. So good with the creepy/manipulative/awesome.

“They’re all dead,” “Mass hallucination,” “Psychological experiment gone wrong,” and “God the Universe the Island did it”

One day, you're going to look back on this list and find it amusing. That's all I have to say about it.

Lol forever at that comparison. I do see it, a little!

But yeah, Ben/Henry (or Benry, as a lot of fandom called him for about half a season) has some serious crazy eyes going on. Michael Emerson is super great at exuding a strong "I'm completely crazy and just might stab you in the face if you say the wrong thing" vibe, while still seeming completely in control *loves Ben*

(Also, yeah, the Henry Gale was a super-intentional reference. Lots of people had theories about it at the time. But then, people had theories about everything).

PS. I love that icon. He is a pretty man.

I vote read all the crazy theories after! That way, you can laugh at the people who were really wrong!

I was really annoyed at "Dave," too, but at least they mostly seem to forget about the "Hurley has a PROBLEM" aspect of the episode in later seasons...

Since I was watching Sex and the City at the time, it was... odd.

Dave is Charlotte's second husband, Harry, the one who would sit naked on her white sofa. For someone as prim as Charlotte, that was an issue. :)

Bwha! Y'know, the more you know Benry, the more this actually seems true.

Henry Gale who arrived in a hot air balloon? Is that a Wizard of Oz reference?

Yes.

Aw. That's a shame because watching him play that evil, evil line of "Is he serious? Is he lying?" really worked. He's an amazing weasel. :)

OMG TREE FROG! :( :( :( :(

I know, right? I told you! I don't think I ever hated Sawyer more than when he killed a tree frog. Not cool, dude. Not cool.

And I suppose this means we can add “It’s all in Hurley’s head” to the list of explanations for what’s going on here (which, btw, includes “They’re all dead,” “Mass hallucination,” “Psychological experiment gone wrong,” and “God the Universe the Island did it”).

Heh. Spoilers!

Sigh. I remember back in the day, when we called him Benry. Good times.

FYI, I got the season 6 DVDs and cried during all the 'making of' documentaries. I loved this show that much.

Don't know how many times I'll say "Sawyer gets better" until I'll have to resign myself to your not liking him. If Judy Blume didn't make you like him, I don't know what will. Sigh. It's a late season love affair? You can't argue with loving the late seasons, since our little corner of Buffydom is all about the late seasons, so let yourself rage about the tree frog (TREE FROG!) but be over it by season 5. Season 5 is the Season of Sawyer (and a few other characters who come along and are AWESOME.)

Soooo… “Dave” is basically “Normal Again” with a little bonus fat shaming thrown in?

That, and a bald guy.

Also, I think the only fat character whose attitude towards their body I've supported 100% was Tracey Turnblad from Hairspray. Girl just wanted to dance, and really didn't care what size she was, not that fake not caring that's really a statement about caring. The Hurley thing was mostly an answer to critical internet fans who noticed Hurley was stuck on a deserted island and oddly not losing weight (though I think he tells Charlie in season 1 he's down a belt loop), so they came up with "Hurley's hoarding food" as an explanation. Darn those critical internet fans!

Enjoy the Others and their nativist bonhommmie while you can, because Season 3 is when the shit gets real.

I think I have a gif I could have used just then.

Also, this is your last random icon from me, because my favorite character comes along in season 3!

You will learn to love Sawyer and Jin. Trust me, just... trust me :D
As for Desmond... -happysigh-

Kate and Jack will forever be on my blacklist and Ana Lucia... Just no.

Think the reason Hurley's weight had to be addressed is because people assumed he'd drop a few since he was on a desert island with hardly any food. But even at that it would take aaaages for it to be noticable.

You will be amused by your last comment if you ever get to the Last Episode Ever :)

Omg, I hate Sawyer the most because he killed that poor little froggy (who by the way, did not look like a tree frog to me). I do find it funny that be was reading Judy Blume, but I will never like him if he's a frog killer.

Ha, and the Hurley being crazy episode, as soon as Dave told him he's still in the hospital, and it's all in his head, I said, hey, that was a Buffy episode.
And about him "not losing weight", I though it looked like he did drop some weight since the first episode. Or maybe it just looks that way from the baggy shirts? I was wondering if the actor would have to lose weight throughout the series.

Also, is Jin the father of sun's baby? Or is it the dude she was taking English lessons from? Since sun said she wasn't with anyone else, but Jin can't make a baby...or is it one of those "island miracles" like Locke being able to walk, and rose's cancer being gone?

I also like your theory of the island wanting some new friends since "the others" suck. Haha.

Plus, you should definitely see hairspray. The movie isn't as good as the broadway version (obviously), but it's still pretty good.

OMG RIGHT? That pissed me off too. Especially since Hurley in particular has so many interesting issues which didn't have to be related to his weight. GOD JUST LET HIM BE FAT.
