Home Decor Poll

If you've been following my renovation picspams, you may have noticed that I have a divided bathroom - a washroom with the sink and the linen closet, and then the toilet and bathtub in a separate room. My bedroom opens into the washroom as well, which means there are a lot of doors in one small space. I would like to get rid of one of them, preferably the door from the living room to the washroom. Obviously the bath/toilet needs a door for privacy, and I'd like to keep my bedroom door. Besides which, the washroom door is really in the way when it's open, and it's awkward to get around.
My mother was initially opposed to the get-rid-of-the-door plan, because when I have guests over, the washroom is likely where they'd be getting dressed etc. so they need privacy, too. (In other words, this is a totally self-interested opinion, hahaha.) Although, as things are laid out, I have to go THROUGH the washroom to get in and out of my bedroom, which is kind of inconvenient if someone is naked in there, doors or no doors.
So. My solution was to get rid of the door and use a folding privacy screen. That way, it can stay folded up against the wall, leaving fewer obstructions cluttering up the space. Then, when someone needs privacy in there, they can open up the screen, and if they position it properly, I can still get out of my bedroom!
This is all preamble to my question: which screen should I get? The cheapest ones I've found are on Amazon, which is still twice as much as I expected to pay. :\ I've got it narrowed down to these four:
Brasserie - Since the art in my condo sort of has a "travel" theme to it, I stuck with the French thing for most of these options. The colors in this one go well with my bedroom (red) and the washroom (shades of brown/tan).
Eiffel Tower - Simple design. Since it's mostly light, though, I worry that it might be a little too transparent for total privacy. But! It's the cheapest of the four.
Parisian Cafe - Colors don't quite match, but it's pretty! The washroom's mostly neutral anyway.
Piano - Somewhat different theme, but I do play the piano, after all. No particular attachment to the phonograph on the other side.
If you need a refresher on what the bathroom/washroom looks like, the pictures are here and here. I also want something that will look pretty and not too weird when it's folded up, even though you're only seeing 1/3 of the design.

Meh, suck it up and keep the door.

I have another brilliant idea to solve the problem that doesn't involve a screen!

Date: Aug. 8th, 2011 02:03 am (UTC)Here are their regular curtains. There are also a few on sale which you might like here. (Scroll down the page a bit to see the curtains.)
Anyway, don't know if it will work for you, but the price is about the same and the profile is a little less than having a screen sitting around.
Good luck!

I picked Piano because from the pictures (seen on a computer screen, of course, so...), it's the one whose color scheme would go best with what you have in your apartment.
I have to second the curtain option too, it might be more practical than a screen.

Date: Aug. 11th, 2011 01:27 am (UTC)There's not really any space to store the door here, either. If we do take it off, it'll probably live in my parents' basement until I sell it. (Because apparently when people buy a place, they expect the doors to come with it so I can't throw it away?)
