So, this is what happens when I go away for the weekend while Comic-Con is happening? I mean, HEIDI IN NEXT TO NORMAL obviously takes priority, but... yikes.
* Jake Gyllenhaal is no longer playing a Prince in Into the Woods, possibly being replaced by Broadway vet Billy Magnussen. If only Johnny Depp would have a scheduling conflict...
* Ever wonder why all those Hollywood blockbusters seem like the same movie? It's because they are.
* Lots of cool detail work happening in Catching Fire. This just made me SO EXCITED for the movie to come out. I... kind of think it will be better than the first one?
* I have been waiting for someone to put this together since I started watching Game of Thrones, lol.
* Bunheads is officially canceled. :(
* Someone is making 12 Monkeys into a TV series on Syfy. I loved that movie, but... why.
And now Comic-Con:
Marvel:
* The Agents of SHIELD panel live blog, as well as a review of the pilot episode, which (SPOILER ALERT) includes an appearance by Maria Hill.
* And an interview with Jed and Maurissa talking about the show. Also, there was a solo Joss Whedon panel that hit on lots of topics. Meanwhile, Kevin Feige talked about Marvel Phase 3, Doctor Strange, and Vin Diesel.
* Here's a write-up of the Marvel panel, which covered Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Thor: The Dark World, and Guardians of the Galaxy. Here's another, more thorough recap. Tom Hiddleston showed up in character as Loki. So... that happened.
* An interview with the directors of Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Also, Chris Evans and Scarlett Johansson learn the title of Avengers 2. Scarlett: "Who do I play?" Chris: "Who's Ultron?" Josh: "We'll get you some comics."
* Joss later clarified that the "Age of Ultron" title doesn't mean they're actually using the Ultron storyline from the comics? The popular theory seems to be that Ultron will be Tony Stark's creation.
* A clip from the Marvel short Agent Carter, in which Peggy is a badass with a briefcase.
* KAREN GILLAN SHAVED HER HEAD FOR GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY. KAREN GILLAN IS BALD. BRB MOURNING THE LOSS OF KAREN'S EPIC HAIR.
Other Movies:
* On the DC side, Batman and Superman are teaming up for the Man of Steel sequel, and apparently The Flash movie is in the works, building up to the inevitable Justice League movie at some point.
* The Veronica Mars movie had a live blogged panel where they debuted the first trailer for the film.
* Jennifer Lawrence continues to be adorable and hilarious. I love her so much. "Yeah, no, zero professionalism." Also, NEW CATCHING FIRE TRAILER at that first link, yo.
TV Shows:
Lots of live blogs:
- Breaking Bad, in which we learn (among other things) exactly how Walt poisoned Brock.
- The Vampire Diaries. Basically: WHY THE FUCK NOT? Also, a teaser video that is a lot of S/E pandering, followed by a lot of D/E pandering, and very little actual preview of season 5.
- Game of Thrones
- Orphan Black. Jordan Gavaris sings while Tatiana Maslany beatboxes. WHAT.
- Community
- Doctor Who. Matt Smith then talked more about leaving Doctor Who while he was on some other panel.
- How I Met Your Mother, which included a reassuring discussion of how the final season will be structured (thankfully, it will not be the wedding in real time). Also, Ted's kids are seriously pissed about being held hostage for eight years.
More coming... I haven't even gone through the Nerd HQ vids yet, but this has gotten long enough.
And if I've missed anything,
cleolinda has her own epic link round-up, including the fandoms I don't care about.
