It's not just for Les Miserables anymore!

* I neglected to post because it happened over the holiday, but Chevy Chase has left Community. Good riddance. It's pretty unlikely that the show will get a 5th season, so they really don't even have to write him off if they can't be bothered. Apparently there are still one or two more episodes of season 4 to film without him, but I doubt anyone will mind if he just doesn't show up for a couple weeks.

* Downton Abbey was renewed for a fourth season, but possibly without Maggie Smith? Or Dan Stevens? (As a sidebar, I didn't realize that Jessica Brown Findlay wanted out to pursue a Hollywood career. That... does not make [S3 spoiler - y'all know what I'm talking about] any better, but at least there was a reason for it?)

* In other Brit-TV news, if you've been waiting for season 2 of The Hour to air in the US, it premieres this Wednesday on BBC America.

* In still more Brit-TV news, Sherlock season 3 has been pushed back due to the actors' busy filming schedules.

* In not-at-all-about-TV news, this excerpt from a Louisiana textbook on evolution is downright terrifying.

* From the "Australia is AWESOME" file: Best PSA Ever. I will have that song stuck in my head for a long, long time, I expect.

* Okay, fine, one more Les Miserables review.

That textbook is... something else.

Today, my mom was all, "Matthew is leaving Downton Abbey!" when I walked in. She saw it on IMDB while looking up Game of Thrones cast lists.

I honestly am having trouble caring about the Downton Abbey news? I'm not really invested in the show or the Mary/Matthew pairing anymore.

I mean, if Matthew leaving also means Mary leaving, then I'd be sad, because MARY, but otherwise? Meh. I could live quite happily without Matthew. Or all of them. Basically, I would love a show with nothing but Maggie Smith and Michelle Dockery being awesome.

I was never invested in Matthew/Mary, but it seems like they'll either have to A) kill him, or B) come up with some half-assed reason for him to leave without her. Either way, we'll have more pointless angst. But it just seems like once two or so of the cast start leaving, the show goes downhill in general.

Lol, but it's been going downhill since S2, so... idk. I don't think losing Matthew could make it worse.

(Hmmm, maybe that's why the actors are leaving...)

I don't think Matthew leaving will make it better, either, lol. It has been going downhill, and I think this will just make it worse somehow. It's just another external thing they have to work into the plot.

And the stupidity is astounding. Hey, idiot textbook writer, simple and complex organisms exist NOW. It isn't a problem if simple organisms are found.

Ugh and yet I am now somehow MORE annoyed about Sybil, because why couldn't they just leave them in Ireland? But no, the show had to have its precious Branson back, so. :( Not that I'm bitter or anything. Though like you, I'm not really that invested so eh. Still, if there's no Maggie Smith and they somehow make Mary leave too just because Matthew is, at least I won't have to even care to remember to watch it?

I am not clicking on that article because I've heard around the internet that he wasn't returning, but the title of that article makes it sound like he will. And I don't want to know -- to keep the Christmas Special a surprise for myself.
