Post-birthday catch-up

Hey hey hey! Thanks to everyone for the birthday wishes (I think I got around to them all, but if I didn't, please let me know! I'm not hatin' - just overwhelmed, lol.)

As you may know, this week is Spring Break for me, so I took the opportunity to take a week off from work, since I had no classes. It was supposed to be relaxing yet productive, but if I wanted to relax, I probably shouldn't have bought a house, you know? I've just about got the mortgage stuff straightened out (after a minor "OMG this is so expensive, what was I THINKING???" freakout earlier today), and I'm having the home inspection done on Friday.

I did manage to have some fun this weekend, since the oh-so-Irish mcmegan came to visit and we went to the Shamrock Fest in DC. Lots of Irish bands, lots of people in crazy outfits, and a LOT of fried food (my stomach was not pleased), but the main attractions were Hotspur - Megan's like a superfan or something, they know her by name! - and Dropkick Murphys, both of which were great.

We also got our picture taken with a leprechaun:



On Sunday, we went to the zoo, which means... animal picspam! I took pictures of different animals than last time, although we were very sad that we missed the lion cubs.

Pandas! (Kind of blurry pandas, because I was taking the pictures through glass, and the damn bear kept moving!)



Super-friendly monkey (who also would not stop moving) in the Amazonia exhibit. I'd never been in there before, and it's pretty cool. The animals basically have free rein in this indoor rain forest.



Pink birdies! I don't remember what they are, except that they're not flamingos! (Don't look at me, Megan's the animal expert!)

I also got pretty flowers from my parents for my birthday... which Chelsea immediately tried to eat:



That is, of course, when she wasn't busy playing with my birthday balloon:

Ha! She did not, in fact, probably because she was more concerned with the string than the balloon itself.

Ha, no mention of those 2 interesting characters we met? And I could have introduced you to the hotspur boys, but I really wanted to see dropkick murphys. You'll just have to go see them again with me! The pink birdies are spoonbills. That was a fun weekend.

Haha, I forgot about those guys! I mean... being asked to flash someone is just SUCH a regular occurrence for me. Hardly worth mentioning. :)

I would not be opposed to going to another Hotspur show.
