Cooking with Eowyn, Mom edition

I just got an email from my mother:

"I decided to make soup. While I was waiting for the pan to heat, I came up to check the email and got distracted. Next thing, the alarm is going off and the firemen are on the way. Did you know that if your alarm goes off for fire, direct dispatch is mandatory in NJ? Not police, just fire. I didn't know that. 

"Fortunately, one of the firemen was [our neighbor - we went to kindergarten together], so they were nice to me.

"P.S. Patches is still hiding."

That sounds like something I would do, lol.

Meep! Sounds like something I might do too... well, in the distracted sense way. I usually try to avoid burning dinner. Or smoke detectors are just warnings (and loud enough to wake the dead).

Oh, and if you see that Kat person over on facebook, that's me. I broke down and created one.

Hee! Well, see, it wasn't the smoke detector that was the problem - it's that we have a home security system that's wired into our smoke detector, so when the alarm goes off, the police/fire are automatically called. When it's the burglar alarm, they usually call to see if we're okay before dispatching, but apparently with fire they don't bother.

I friended you on Facebook! Not that I ever use it, lol - I wait until the friend requests have piled up and then log on and approve people. Be honest, you just created one because JM is on Facebook now, right?

And yes, she did tell me about February. Not making any commitments yet, since I now have a.) an extra 1.5 hours to drive to get there, and b.) a new job with a new schedule, so don't know if we'll be busy at that time or not.

Uh... yeah. James on FB = Kat on FB. *sigh* Darn Steve anyway! He needs to come to LJ. Although, I have to admit, FB is a bit easier to navigate than myspace.

I'm hoping that since it's a weekend, you won't be busy. I'm gonna try and book a hotel closer than the last one I stayed at, even though it was very nice.

I gave up on Myspace a long time ago. I've no idea how this "become a fan" feature works, though. I imagine it won't do me a lick of good, since I don't regularly check Facebook - unless it emails me updates (which it does when I get friend requests or messages), I have no idea what's going on. I'm sure people who do check will end up posting the updates on LJ anyway.

It's President's Day weekend again, which means I won't have to take Monday off (which is good). It'll also depend on the price and what the events are. *is cheap*
