How to start off on the wrong foot with your new apartment building:

1. Leasing office promises to FedEx your lease by Thursday, or Friday at the latest. Lease must be signed, notarized, and received by Tuesday, June 30th.
2. Leasing office emails at 5:30 Friday night to say you should receive your lease by noon Saturday.
3. Current leasing office is not open on weekends, meaning package cannot be picked up until Monday, June 29th.
4. Hope for early morning delivery, so there's enough time to leave work, pick up package at home, get to a notary public, and go to FedEx office to overnight lease back to leasing office.
5. If afternoon delivery, screwed.

But you know what? It's their fault, so if they don't get the lease in time, tough shit. I'm moving in anyway.

Ugh. Fucking paperwork. Sorry, but I keep hearing about crap like this happening.

The thing is, we talked about all this beforehand. We even offered to PAY for the cost of FedExing the lease. (They wanted me to sign it in person - I said I'm not driving five hours round trip just to sign a damn piece of paper.) They assured me it would be here on time.

I'm not moving in until next Friday, but if I signed the lease by June 30th, I'd get my first month's rent free and a $200 fee waived. So I damn well want to get it done by then, but if I don't, they get more of my money...
