Okay, let's get this one out of the way, since it's easy.
urania_calliope asked, "What worries you more: the spider or the bite?"
The spider. No contest.
The thing is, I don't really think of spiders as biting kinds of pests. Not the way I think of, say, mosquitoes. Like, if I see a mosquito, I want to kill it precisely because I know it's going to suck my blood and leave me with a big, itchy, red welt. Spiders, on the other hand, freak me out just by being creepy-crawly and having way more legs than are really necessary (don't even get me started on centipedes). The threat of being bitten on top of that is kind of superfluous. Seriously, I'm fidgeting and getting phantom itches just sitting here thinking about them crawling around. Even the supposedly good spiders that won't hurt you and are helpful because they eat insects - nuh-uh. Squash 'em all, I say.
Thank goodness I have a cat that kills bugs and leaves them on the floor for me to find. Or at the very least, gives the bug a fierce meowing until I come along to kill it with a tissue.

Date: May. 29th, 2009 08:34 pm (UTC)Does it make me an anomaly that spiders don't bother me all that much? Mosquitoes are just a pain and we're having a real fly problem at the moment. SO annoying.
My kitty used to eat bugs (those green ones that eat the male that totally and forever freak me out and make me scream and run the other way when I see one).
*hugs*
*brushes all imaginary bugs off*

Oh, a praying mantis? I used to think they were really cool, until I thought one was a leaf and then it moved and... yeah. Heebie-jeebies.

I know they're armless to humans but they. Freak. Me. Out. And they seem to follow me! I had a nest on my windowsill. I remember blowing the babies off my windowsill. And no, those babies aren't cute!! I keep spotting them. Real ones too. But I'm getting better at keeping the screaming inside my head. *nods*

Date: May. 30th, 2009 10:09 pm (UTC)It freaked me out so much I left the book there for a week without moving it.
Now, here's the weird part. When I finally have to pick up the book to take it to class there was no sign of the spider.
