next_to_normalHappy New Year! I am spending the first day of 2018 as I have been spending many days this holiday season: binge-watching Jane the Virgin. Yes, I have FINALLY started watching, and it is as delightful as everyone promised. I've just started season 3, so leave me all your feels.
In the spirit of the telenovela, let me tell you about the epic romance that happened while I was home for a week over the holidays. No, not mine. Chelsea's. When last we left our feline friends, my parents had adopted a cat that looked exactly like Chelsea and named him Clinton. We went home for Christmas last year, Chelsea was a boss bitch and put him in his place, and people started shipping it.
Well. LET ME TELL YOU. There was a LOT of hissing when we arrived, but we stayed a whole week, and Feelings Have Changed. Clinton continued to follow Chelsea around, but less in a stalking, aggressive way, and more just to see what she'd do? And while Chelsea would continue to hiss occasionally for plausible deniability (think Buffy punching Spike just to prove she's not in love with him), mostly she just let him follow her around.

AND THEN. SHE started following HIM around. And there was Epic Staring and Fierce Wooing and - briefly - Nose Booping!
Wooing, Romeo and Juliet-style.
Mom: Clinton, stop staring at her.
Me: I know she's pretty, but -
Mom: She's old enough to be your mother!
Me: ...Rude.
Clinton, going in for the Boop.
MORE THAN ONCE, I caught them cautiously approaching each other, then booping noses, then one of them would get shy and scamper off.
By the last day of my vacation, Chelsea was too busy FOLLOWING HER BOYFRIEND AROUND to even pay attention to her mother, so, you know, just like every teenager ever. Now she is sulking around the house because life is SO UNFAAAAAIR (although it's entirely possible that's more about the lack of stairs in my condo. Chelsea liked Clinton, but she LOVED those stairs).
Meanwhile, I have had nothing but bad first dates, but that's a post for another day, I think. Hope you all enjoyed your holidays. Tell me what you have been up to!
