Today's question comes from [personal profile] stormwreath: Somebody gives you a time machine, set for a single journey into the past and back, and a gun with one bullet. Who do you kill?

Well, the go-to answer to this one is obviously Hitler, but that seems too easy, because everybody says Hitler, so it doesn't require any thought. Well, I suppose it requires a little thought:

Then again, people usually pick Hitler for good reason. And people will totally judge you if you don't:

But... there are other people who might be better to eliminate, if it's strictly a numbers game. If we're trying to maximize the lives saved, shouldn't we consider all the options?

Of course, chances are, the question is moot because there are a lot of ways that, despite my best efforts, it could go horribly wrong. Like this:

(Why, yes, I did just avoid answering the question in order to spam you with time traveling Hitler assassinations. What of it, Internets?)

Kill Christopher Columbus. Then the Europeans can just keep fighting amongst themselves in Europe. We might as well REALLY screw up history.

Or maybe there's someone in the future we need to kill!

Anyway, if River Song didn't manage to go back in time and kill Hitler, it can't be done.
