Recently, [personal profile] lutamira and I got to chatting about Josh/Donna and how I logically should ship them because they are super-dysfunctional, and we all know how I'm a sucker for dysfunctional ships. And yet... I don't. And I think the reason why is that I like my dysfunction in nontraditional gender roles (*ahem* Spuffy), whereas The West Wing is basically reinforcing traditional gender roles by having the dude be an emotionally unavailable jerk who doesn't respect his (female, of course) assistant and takes her for granted.

Thus, gender swap! I'd kind of been mulling this one over for a while now (I have been wanting to do one after seeing all of [livejournal.com profile] penny_lane_42's fantabulous picspams), but that was the motivation I needed to actually put the damn thing together.

clearly you knew how happy this would make me.

I was a little skeptical of NPH as CJ, and then I finished scrolling down to the pictures and....OMG THEIR FACES MATCH BAH. And Zachary Levi as Donna is the cutest thought I have thought all day.

This is way way too fabulous! I LOVE Maggie Siff as Toby and Katee Sackhoff as Josh - I think I would ship Josh/Toby if those two were the ones playing out that antagonistic-but-closer-than-family dynamic. And if Mary McDonnell were President Bartlett, I might actually like the character... :)

This is full of so much win!

LOL You were right. I hardly knew who any of them were. A couple I did, some had familiar faces if not names, but most were just... huh? who? :)

OMG this is brilliant, and I would totally watch this show. I especially love Amanda Peet as Sam, John Noble as Debbie, and John Mahoney as Delores.

Aww, I love Josh/Donna, but I definitely see what you mean. In the first few years I liked them *because* of the weird boss/assistant tension, though I wasn't counting on that to last. I liked them better once Donna quit working for Josh, and Josh... woke up. I guess I'm fine with ships starting out in traditional gender roles, but being subverted by the end.

THE GENDER-SWAP:

OMGGGG MARY AS JED. POCO APPROVES, haha.

KATEE AS JOSH? YESYESYESYESYES

NPH AS CJ! NEVER would have imagined that, but why the hell not.

ZACH AS DONNA! PERFECT!

Great work, yo.
