Day Seventeen: Favorite warrior female character Eowyn, Shieldmaiden of Rohan
Obvious choice is obvious, lol. But also apropos, because just the other day, penny_lane_42 linked me to this post about Eowyn and depression. One more reason to love my girl.
Yeah, I'm thinking I need to do a re-read with depressed!Eowyn in mind, because it was not something I even considered when I first read the books (in middle school). But I've always had an instinctive love for Eowyn, which I think is tied to a deeper identification than I realized.
It's funny, too, that I've had a similar disillusionment with the movies as the OP. When they first came out, I loved them, mostly for the simple fact of them existing. But the more I think about it, the more the movies feel woefully insufficient. I actually own the extended versions of The Fellowship of the Ring and The Two Towers. I think I've rewatched FotR once, and never rewatched TT. I didn't even bother to buy Return of the King.
