Crossover relationships: Match five characters with their soulmates - from another fandom.
I'm following Lady Y's lead and including best friend relationships as well as romantic pairings, mostly because I just couldn't think of five romantic crossover pairings. This is kind of hard, since I don't ever write crossovers. I don't even think about crossovers. Most of these are pairings I never even considered until I started this meme.
I have trouble with the concept of blending worlds, especially when the worlds are unique and, well, otherworldly, like Buffy or Battlestar Galactica. It's hard to imagine characters from shows grounded in the real world crossing over without a crazy amount of convincing that vampires are real or intergalactic space travel is possible or whatever.
Anyway, enough explaining. My list is under the cut.

Dawn Summers (BtVS) and the Doctor (Doctor Who) - I'm taking a cue from my icon pairing meme and listing these two. As I said in that post: "I think Dawn would make a great companion. She's already seen enough crazy shit that aliens should be no big, and she's quite adept at getting kidnapped or otherwise into trouble, which would give the Doctor plenty of opportunities to save her, and then angst over having almost lost her." I'm not big on romantic pairings in Doctor Who, so this would be totally platonic, and I think they'd have a blast.
Willow Rosenberg (BtVS) and Cindy "Mac" MacKenzie (Veronica Mars) - I was going to go with the obvious Buffy/Veronica match-up (because they're the SAME PERSON), but I've always found it interesting that everyone on BtVS has a VM counterpart1, and I can really see these two getting along. They're both uber-computer geeks and wicked smart. Mac is no-nonsense, so she won't take any of Willow's shit. And I could see this being either a friendship or a relationship. After all, Mac's had some serious issues with guys (okay, one in particular, but her issues have issues, man), so maybe it's time for her to try something new.
Gwen Raiden (Angel) and Elle (Heroes) - The two electro-girls. Aside from the fact that they'd probably knock out the power on the whole block every time they got together, it'd be nice for them to know someone else with the same problem. To know that they're not alone. They both have a bad girl streak, but the toughness is all an act. Deep down, they just want to be loved for who they are.
Buffy Summers (BtVS) and Thomas Raith (The Dresden Files) - What? She's clearly got a fetish, might as well indulge it. Thomas is a "good" vampire, in that he doesn't drink blood to survive, although he does do that life force sucking thing. But Buffy's pretty strong, so I think she could handle it better than the average human. Considering what she was like with Spike, Thomas could probably feed off of their sex and never go hungry again, with leftovers to spare. He's been fighting evil with Harry, so he'd be a natural addition to Buffy's Slayer mission, especially with the superpowers and all. Also, unlike other vampires, White Court vamps age, meaning they wouldn't have that awkward "I'm going to die young, and you'll never age" problem she had with Spike and Angel. They both have "great loves" that have scarred them, and they both know what it's like to kill your lover (only to get a reprieve when the person turns out not to really be dead), so they can help each other heal. It also kinda helps that I imagine Thomas being played by James Marsters. :)
Spike (BtVS) and Starbuck (Battlestar Galactica) - I made a request for this pairing months ago, but no one took me up on it. Okay, actually, they'd be terrible for each other. Spike would be exactly like Anders and be Starbuck's bitch because he'll do anything for love, and she'd totally pull a Buffy and abuse him because she's fucked up and can't handle intimacy, but OMG it'd be hot. Really, really hot, angry sex. Actually, you know who would be a better BSG pairing for Spike? Caprica Six. He's love's bitch, and she's all about love. It'd be a total love-fest. Plus, Spike's got a thing for skinny blonde robots.

1Seriously, check it out:
Buffy - Veronica
Willow - Mac
Xander - Wallace
Giles - Keith
Angel/Riley - Duncan
Spike - Logan
Cordelia - Jackie
Tell me that's not perfect. Next, I'll explain to you my Buffy/Into the Woods theory. :)

Date: Jul. 9th, 2008 03:34 pm (UTC)I'm reading a Spike/BSG crossover that is very entertaining. The Spike/Starbuck works a treat: "Bug on the Cosmic Windscreen" http://missmurchison.livejournal.com/261749.html

Date: Jul. 9th, 2008 03:57 pm (UTC)Spike would be fun to cross over with just about anyone. hehe. It'd be fun with Spike and Starbuck though, and just imagine throwing Leoben into the mix, what with his crazy 'you have a destiny' and stalkery ways. Fun for the whole family.

Date: Jul. 10th, 2008 03:50 am (UTC)Enjoyed all your choices (especially Mac-n-Willow), but I'm curious as to whether you think Gwen and Elle should be platonic or romantic or could-be-either?

Date: Jul. 10th, 2008 08:27 pm (UTC)Gwen and Elle... I think that'd be platonic, mostly because I've never seen any indication that either of them had an interest in women. But then again, if they could manage to touch each other, and not other people, they could make do with what they've got...

Date: Jul. 10th, 2008 08:47 am (UTC)Buffy and Thomas together is a very intriguing idea, just as long as Thomas or Buffy doesn't fall in love. ::sniffs:: Poor Thomas.
