Snagged from
shadowkat. This is gonna be awesome, I'm such a TV whore.
TV Meme:
Simple rules - list all the tv shows you have watched in last two years that are currently available (does this mean currently airing? I'm assuming it does) and still on TV or Netflix.
(Gah! Simple?? Maybe if you have a small list of shows that you can easily remember! I need some sort of reference list, lol.)
*Put a strike through the shows you've tried at least once and chose not to watch for whatever reason.
*Bold all the shows that you would recommend, think are amazing, and love.
*Leave as is the shows you are watching but are nothing special. These would include guilty pleasures.
At the end list the new shows airing this year that you are trying.
Glee
Mad Men
Dexter
The Good Wife - Decent, but didn't really stand out to me as more than just another lawyer show. I might come back to it someday if I didn't have a thousand other shows on my "to watch" list.
The Vampire Diaries - Just started watching this one. Thus far, I am not at ALL impressed, and it's only the fact that everyone says it gets sooo much better that is saving it from a strike through.
Damages - I loved the first season, meh about the rest.
Caprica - Kinda meh about this one, too. I'll keep watching, but the first season didn't impress me.
Bones
The Good Guys
Burn Notice
Doctor Who
Torchwood
Modern Family
Cougar Town
The Office - I used to say I loved it and would recommend it, but it's gone way downhill.
Parks and Recreation
Community
Life Unexpected - This one is cute, but didn't meet the "next Gilmore Girls" standard I was hoping for, which was a bit disappointing.
Friday Night Lights
Parenthood
House - I watch it, but I can't be bothered to watch it with any sort of timeliness, so it ends up being on DVD, at least a season behind.
Being Erica
Leverage
How I Met Your Mother - I wasn't thrilled with this last season, but assuming it bounces back this year, I'd recommend it.
Chuck
Fringe
Psych - Again with the used to love it, but it's gone way downhill.
My Boys
Brothers and Sisters - Same as House. I watch it, but always a year late.
(Did I miss any? I thought this would be a lot worse, but since it's just current shows, that cuts out a lot of what I've been watching lately.)
The only new show I'm planning to watch this year is No Ordinary Family. Maybe I'll pick up some others if I hear good things about them, but for the most part, I wasn't impressed with this year's new shows, and I have more than enough shows in the Netflix queue to catch up on.

Date: Sep. 15th, 2010 06:29 am (UTC)'Fringe' I'm curious about. It seems like the sort of show I would really like. I haven't heard too much ruffling about it though which seems odd (but then again I might be looking in the wrong place...)

Date: Sep. 16th, 2010 03:25 am (UTC)And that's pretty much how I felt about season 5 - uneven. The middle lagged a LOT, but Holly made Michael a lot more tolerable in the beginning, and I liked the Michael Scott Paper Company episodes at the end. (Basically, I like anything that gets Michael out of the rut he's in - most of the time it's like the writers just keep doing the same tired jokes over and over.) Season 6 I thought was just terrible - other than the Jim/Pam eps and Kathy Bates, I could've done without it entirely.

Date: Sep. 16th, 2010 12:44 pm (UTC)I do like Jim and Pam, though. Though I understand that in The Office fandom you're either supposed to love them or hate them.
I actually liked S6 better than S5. I'm not sure why. Though I did think that Angela was wildly OOC in S5.

Date: Sep. 16th, 2010 05:48 pm (UTC)Hahaha, true. But everyday life is actually pretty boring, so the appeal of the show relies heavily on the writers coming up with new ways to make it funny. And sometimes... they don't.
Oh, yeah, Angela was bizarre in S5. I kind of get the sense that the writers aren't big on consistent characterization. They'll easily sacrifice characterization for a joke.
