Day 13 - Favorite childhood show

I'd say it had to be Little House on the Prairie. I suppose it's the first TV series I actually owned, since I had a whole collection of episodes on VHS (most of which we taped from TV). If you've never heard of it (I don't know, are there people out there who haven't?), it's based on the autobiographical series by Laura Ingalls Wilder, about her life growing up on a farm in Minnesota in the late 19th century. (Actually, she also lived in Wisconsin, Kansas, and South Dakota, but the TV show is just set in Minnesota.) I also read the books as a kid, and I loved them. I kind of wanted to be Laura Ingalls, and I had my mother braid my hair in pigtails like her. :) I also think I have a little bit of an American Frontier kink.

The show actually aired entirely before I was born (which I didn't realize until I just looked it up on Wikipedia), so I must've watched it in reruns. I was a loyal viewer until the point where the Ingallses started adopting random children, and I would check in occasionally and be like, "Who are all these people?" But it's a show about family, and that always gets me. Particularly big families - what can I say, I'm an only child, and I live vicariously through characters with lots of brothers and sisters. I haven't watched it in years, though, nor reread the books, so I'd be curious to revisit it again and see how it holds up to my memories, lol.

Honorable Mentions: I also recall loving Chip 'n Dale: Rescue Rangers as a kid. My friend Tess and I used to try to play Rescue Rangers, but we'd always run into difficulty because we both wanted to be Gadget (the only girl character). I also watched Duck Tales and Talespin (I kind of recall that they were on back to back in the afternoons). Oh, and I was an avid Full House and Saved By the Bell fan, too.

And the rest of the days, for those who want to play along...

I loved LHotP too. My youngest daughter loves the episode where Carrie falls down the well. We have it on DVD and she watches it all the time. The Halloween episode where Laura thinks Mr. Olsen chopped off Mrs. Olsen's head is my favorite. LOL!

Some times! Some crimes
Go slippin' through the cracks!
But these two! Gumshoes!
Are pickin' up the slack-

There's no case too big
No case too small
When you need help just call-

Chip Chip Chip Chip Chip and Dale!
Rescue Rangers!
Chip Chip Chip Chip Chip and Dale!
Where there's danger!

Oh it never fails!
They'll take the clues-
And find the wheres and whys and whos!

Chip Chip Chip Chip Chip and Dale!

Did I just write that out from memory? I think I did.

Rescue Rangers, DuckTales, and TaleSpin were all part of the Dsney Afternoon. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Disney_Afternoon My personal favorite was Gargoyles.

Yeah, I did my homework during Goof Troop. It was too young-geared. But Gargoyles rocked! It's really expensive to buy, so I'd rec trying to watch it online somehow. Lots of Shakespeare and King Arthur references, and it had a pretty famous voice cast.
