Yep, another TV meme

Where watching TV is all a metaphor for sex. :) Snagged from
snickfic, who had some pretty darn good answers, so I kept them. :)
GAH I NEED TO DRINK LESS CAFFEINE SO I CAN SLEEP!
The old flame you don't see very often any more but whom you still really enjoy getting together with for a few drinks and maybe a pleasant nostalgic romp in the sheets.
The West Wing. I still love it to pieces, but don't get to rewatch it as often as I'd like. If I had my way, I'd just marathon it all the time, but there are far too many new shows tofuck watch. (OMG I'm such a TV slut.)
The mysterious dark gothy one whom you used to sit up with talking until 3 a.m. at weird coffeehouses and with whom you were quite smitten until you realized he really was fucking crazy.
Haha, Sliders, dude. Talk about taking a nosedive into crazy. Did you SEE my explanation of it? (And yet, even in seasons 4 and 5, when we were past the major WTFery and had settled into constant eye-rolling, I was still on the boards talking about it.)
The one you spent a whole weekend in bed with and who drank up all your liquor, and whom you'd still really like to fuck again although you're relieved he doesn't actually live in town.
Veronica Mars. Our relationship was hot and heavy (and fairly brief - I caught up on the first two seasons on DVD and then watched the third as it aired), and sometimes I wish for more of it, but on the other hand, I'm not sure I would've liked it if it had gone on any longer.
The steady.
BtVS, obviously. There are TV shows I've been a fan of longer than this (I'm at my 4 year anniversary with BtVS, whereas I lasted 7 years with The West Wing and 8 with 24), but none that I've maintained this level of interest after the show ended. It's also the longest I've lasted in a single fandom.
The alluring stranger whom you've flirted with at parties but have never gotten really serious with.
Party Down. I've recently caught up on the series through Netflix, and it's okay, but I just don't feel much of an attachment to it. And I feel like I should, because it's all VM alums.
The one you hang out with and have vague fantasies about maybe having a thing with but ultimately you're just good buddies 'cause the friendship is there but the chemistry ain't.
Community. I love it, but in a totally platonic way. We always have a blast together, but it's just too silly for a serious relationship.
The one who seduced you and fucked you over and broke your heart in a million pieces and laughed about it.
Bones. That callous bitch.
The one your friends keep introducing you to and who seems like a hell of a cool guy except it's never really gone anywhere.
The Wire. Everyone says it's awesome, and I know I'll get around to it someday, but the timing just isn't right.
The one who's slept with all your friends, and you keep thinking, "him?"
I quote
snickfic: Torchwood. Uck.
The one your friend has fallen for like a ton of bricks and whom she keeps babbling to you about on the phone for hours, and you'd be happy for her except you just know it's going to end badly.
Again, quoting
snickfic: Supernatural. Partly because the fandom appears to be various graphic and unprintable forms of insane, and partly because I've already had other friends' hearts broken by the show.
The one who gave you the best damned summer of your life and whom you measure all other potential partners against.
Mad Men! It's definitely the highlight of my summer every year.
The high school sweetheart you never truly "got over" and still stalk on Facebook.
SeaQuest DSV. I'd actually kind of forgotten about it until
snickfic reminded me, and then I rewatched season 1 in all it's cheesy glory. There are plans to rewatch 2 and 3 as well, when I have time.
The one you thought would've gone somewhere but you caught on way too late.
Hmmm, House, maybe, or Brothers & Sisters. Both of those are shows that I watch on DVD, at least a season behind. I always think I'm going to catch up someday and watch the next season as it airs, but I never manage to do it. I can't quite bring myself to care enough.
The one who keeps coming back just as you've started to forget his name.
24. I was so obsessed with this show in the beginning, but now it's burned out to the point that I completely forget about it in between seasons, but I always tune in to watch when the new season starts.
The new fling you're still giddy about.
Dexter! I'm taking a little break right now, but I'll get to season 3 soon, I'm sure.
The guy you went out with for a while and who turned out to be kind of a jerk, but you can't really care because he was also kind of boring.
Again copying
snickfic: Dollhouse. Watched the whole series, experienced momentary highs, ended up just not caring very much. Would feel a certain outrage at the wasted potential, except it'd take too much energy.

Date: Jun. 12th, 2010 12:16 pm (UTC)You did?!? When did that happen? We should get together and geek out over it. I bought the first season and watched it my last year in college - it turned out to be a bonding activity with my roommate. So cheesy! And not, on a fundamental level, very good.
I keep asking for it for Yuletide every year, but almost no one offers it (possibly because the final season still isn't out on DVD? Grr.)
RE Dollhouse: I may have invented that category specifically for that show. Because I wanted to mention it somewhere, and it didn't fit anywhere else.
Bones! Bones is my "came too late" show. I watched the first season as the third season was airing, and then managed to see any more of the backlog and so have never watched the new stuff. (OTOH, from what you've said it sounds like I'm just as well off, alas.)

Date: Jun. 13th, 2010 12:34 am (UTC)Your Dollhouse category cracks me up, because it's SO TRUE. I should've tried to make up categories for Chuck and FNL, too, because I couldn't fit them in anywhere.
I'd say season 2 of Bones is the best, so if you haven't watched that, go for it. After that... meh.
