Day 01 - A show that never should have been canceled
Day 02 - A show you wish more people were watching
Day 03 - Your favorite new show (aired this TV season)

Day 04 - Your favorite show ever

Wow, how do I even start this post? Or rather, how do I come up with something new to say when my entire journal is basically dedicated to Buffy? Well, I guess there's a place to start - I tend to waffle about what's my absolute favoritest show ever. Because I have a lot of loves, really I do. There are a dozen shows I love desperately, many of which I'll talk about in the course of this meme. But when you break it down - by any definition - BtVS wins. It's the show about which I've spent the most time talking online. It's the show for which I've written the most fanfic. It's the show for which I've read the most fanfic. The show about which I've written and read the most meta. Hell, it's the show I have the most icons of, and we all know that icons are my primary means of expressing myself.

If you look at all of my favorite TV shows, though, there are certainly some themes that pop out. For one, thing, I looove snappy dialogue. Whatever their other faults, I tend to think that Aaron Sorkin and Joss Whedon write the best dialogue on television, now and forever. I also like shows with kickass blonde chicks.

But most importantly, what I love are people. I fall in love with characters, and my favorite shows are the ones that create these fascinating people that I just want to spend time with every week. And, ultimately, that's what drives me to write fanfic, the desire to spend even more time with these people, to place them in new and different situations to see how they'll react, to let them say the things they never got a chance to say, to give them the chance to turn left.

It's all about the characters. It's about Buffy and Spike and Josh and CJ and Sam and Veronica and Laura and Kara and Don and Joan and Eric and Tami and Matt and Chuck and everybody else. They're the reasons I watch.

Honorable Mentions: The West Wing, Veronica Mars, Battlestar Galactica, Mad Men, Friday Night Lights, Chuck... too many to name, lol. Can they all be my favorites?

And the rest of the days, for those who want to play along...

A whole week to myself is a lot of free time, since I'm not working and all!

I reckon it's doable. With food & toilet breaks...

I think you're my TV soulmate. I guess this means that I need to actually watch The West Wing?

OH AND I'M WATCHING BEING ERICA AND I LOVE IT.

Sorry. That needed capitalizing, trust me. I'm about four episodes in (and intend to watch several more tonight), and it's lovely. I will say that I really hated in the pilot how it seemed to be promoting the whole WOMEN MUST HAVE A MAN IN ORDER TO BE HAPPY thing (not that I have any problem with people wanting to be in a relationship--I absolutely don't--but they kept presenting it as something every woman needs). But they've dialed back a bit on that since then, so I'm cool with it now.

Also, I guess I'm too embedded in feminist fandom, but I spend lots of time thinking about how awesome it would be if Dr. Tom was a woman and it was a woman mentoring another woman. Because we rarely see that. *sigh*

But I really love it! It's kind of adorable! And I can't wait for pretty JM-esque guy to show up!

Hee! Did you know that Eowyn and I are already TV soulmates? True story. So of course you're our soulmate! And YES. OMG LAUREN, you're going to LOVE THE WEST WING. You know how you felt you didn't know what point to look forward to in T:SCC? The West Wing is abso-frickin-lutly amazing right off the bat. And the characters are brilliant.

I can't wait for you to get to know all the strong, brilliant women of the West Wing. Do not stop go! Go watch! ♥

Yes, it's all about the characters and the sharp dialogue for me, too.

I have pretty much given up on sit-coms. I seem to have lost patience with the format. WTF, brain?
