Day 01 - A show that never should have been canceled

Day 02 - A show you wish more people were watching

Being Erica, which is somewhat of an unrealistic request, since it's a Canadian show that airs on SoapNet in the U.S. (I don't even know if I get that channel, and I'm the one telling you to watch it), so I imagine it's probably hard to get people to tune in, unless you're either Canadian or into illegal downloading. But it's so utterly adorable that I can't not mention it.

What if you could go back in time and fix all your regrets? That's exactly the chance Erica gets when she meets Dr. Tom. She's unhappy with her life - 32, single, unemployed, and currently hospitalized after going into anaphylactic shock - and there are so many things she wishes she'd done differently. Each week, Dr. Tom sends Erica back to a significant moment in her life and gives her the chance to do it over and change the outcome. But of course, things never turn out the way she expects.

It's got time travel! Crazy '80s outfits! Erin Karpluk being the most adorable Canadian ever! (Plus she has amazing hair, OMG.) Sebastian Pigott, who reminds me of a younger James Marsters. And he sings! (I am SUCH an Erica/Kai shipper and OMG that scene makes me cry.) It's funny and it's heartwarming, without being too sappy. It'll definitely put a smile on your face. But it's also got depth to it - Erica learns some very hard lessons about herself and the things she cannot change.

Plus, did I mention the time travel?

Honorable Mentions: Friday Night Lights, Chuck, and Mad Men all have that frustrating combination of quality show + low ratings, although that's less of a problem for Mad Men, since it's on AMC, so twelve people could watch it and it'd still get renewed. FNL was saved by a DirecTV deal, which gave it two more years of life, but that'll probably be the end, and Chuck is (again) struggling to get renewed, despite being one of the best shows on a tanking network.

The first season of Being Erica has aired over here in the UK, but I've managed to see S2 by other means. It's such a great little show, and Sebastian Pigott was a revelation as Kai. I'm so excited that it's been renewed for a third season! :)

I must get myself some Being Erica icons!

Thanks for the links. Erica/Kai is more to my taste than Erica/Ethan. :)

I love the premise of the recommended show. I'll have to see when it airs on SoapNet and when Season 1 starts up again (if it does).

I love Friday Night Lights and Mad Men. Chuck is charming and sometimes I just like to watch a program I don't have to think about after the credits roll!

Y'know, a couple of my (Canadian) friends on my flist are obsessed with this show, but I literally knew nothing about it except that they were, indeed, obsessed. But TIME TRAVEL. I'm in! Seriously, this sounds like something I'd love, and I definitely plan to check it out. When I have the time. *sigh*

Also, I kind of freaked out when I opened that youtube link, because I was thinking, "Oh, come on. He can't be that much like JM." But OMG HE SO IS. *flail*

God, I love Being Erica sfm. I watched it on a whim, just seeing the name and knowing I usually dig Canadian shows. I just loved it from the first moment. Such a good show.

And it got renewed for a third season so YAY!

That show sounds amazing. Time travel FTW!!

Yes!! Chuck needs more people watching it! I can't believe people fought so hard last year for a 3rd season and we're back to that again. GAAH!!

I've heard those rumors too.

Have you checked Zac's FB page? He has been posting pics of him and that guy Eric going round Europe promoting Chuck and yesterday there was a 7 mins video of him answering questions people asked on FB. So cute!!

If they did Save Chuck Sandwiches at Subway in NZ I'd go to Subway...

I don't like Subway either. And 2 years ago went to couples counselling right behind a Subway joint and now every time I smell Subway walking down the street I think about counselling...

I saw the angry FB post. But I like that it really IS Zac Levi on his FB page. ^_^

For what it's worth, I suspect that most people with digital cable service in the U.S. actually have SoapNet, although they may not necessarily realize it.

(At least based on which "tier" it's in on my parent's cable system and on mine.)

Michael Ausiello (over at ausiellofiles.ew.com) is sounding very optimistic about "Chuck" being renewed.
