There. At least someone is interested eh? I want to know what you were doing when Buffy went off the air... What were you writing?

I wasn't writing anything... I didn't watch Buffy back then.

2003 was the end of my freshman year of college. My roommate was a fat, lazy, pot-smoking slob who watched way too much crappy reality TV and had a secret stash of trashy erotica novels. Her work ethic was pretty much zero, so it wasn't a huge surprise when she eventually flunked out of school.

That was around the time when I found my niche at college. I was bored with frat parties, and had little interest in drinking myself sick, so I followed an upperclassman I admired to a Christian campus ministry group, which is where I ended up making most of my friends. The people there made me feel loved and cared for, and so despite spending most of my life as an apathetic Catholic, I went through this serious Christian phase.

I spent the summer at college, working in a chemistry lab, which I'd been doing pretty much non-stop since the summer before my freshman year, and I just got burned out. During sophomore year, I decided I hated chemistry and wanted to change my major. My parents freaked out and told me I had no future, and threatened to make me transfer to another school. But I stuck to my guns and started 2004 as a government major, and haven't regretted it since.

Chemistry and government? Well, that makes for some interesting lateral links, I should think. I made most of my lasting friends from Uni in the choir, which is oddly not dissimiliar to your own experience with the Christian ministry group. It wasn't about drugs or drinking or escaping (and a lot of the drama majors still thought that was cool) but about the music. That pleasure has lasted me all my adult life.

You know, I probably could've tried harder to use my chemistry background, going into health or environmental protection or something... but no, I chose education. :) Hey, I got one, so that qualifies me as an expert on the subject, lol.
