Dude, I DID wear out the tape! I'd been talking it up to my cousin, and I was so excited that she was going to watch it, so we sit down, turn it on, and we got as far as Cinderella's stepmother: "You wish to go to the fest-i-vuhhhh..." *static*
I was devastated. Now I own both the DVD and the VHS, just in case.
