Well, the original Spiderman trilogy is actually at the top of the list (behind only Avengers and IM3) in domestic gross, so... we actually agree, at least on the movies we've both seen.
I don't think Disney set out to make bad movies, either. I think they're following the same tactics as every other studio in the industry - which happen to produce a lot of bad movies.
(Although I don't think it's about blame - I think it's simply that doing something original is riskier than doing something formulaic, and when the bottom line is all that matters, of course they're going to go with the tried-and-true moneymaker.)
I get it. I'm not surprised that the Marvel films would go the same way. I am just disappointed (or I will be, since I haven't actually seen a downturn yet, just predictions) because it seemed like Marvel was going to do things differently.
