-Comment with "I got drunk and bought a ton of flowers"
-I'll respond by asking you five questions so I can get to know you better.
-Update your journal with the answers to the questions.
-Include this explanation in the post and offer to ask other people questions. (If you want. Totally optional.)
My questions, from
likeadeuce:
1. What inspired you to get into icon-making?
I started with Farscape, IIRC, because there weren't any good Farscape icons that I could find and I wanted some, and I thought, "How hard can it be?" I didn't have any cool graphics programs - I just used the editing tools on Photobucket, which is what I was using for my picspams. I was doing the Awesome Ladies meme around the same time, and I realized, "Hey, I am making square-shaped graphics. If I made them smaller, they could be icons!"
2. A female supporting character from any canon of your choosing gets their own spinoff. Who is it, and what's the pitch for the series?
Bonnie Bennett. That poor girl is just being totally wasted on TVD. She is a walking plot device, even though the character is so complex she could totally anchor her own show. The pitch? Uh, BONNIE BENNETT IS AWESOME, FOOLS. How's that for a pitch?
3. What was your best live theater experience ever? (top 5 allowed if you can't narrow it down)
Oh gosh, this is so much harder than if you'd just said favorite show.
1. Now. Here. This. at the Vineyard. Given the personal and intimate nature of the subject matter, it almost felt like eavesdropping on a private conversation/therapy session.
2. Next to Normal at the Kennedy Center. Alice Ripley, she's fierce.Hey, that's the first time I've ever said the word "fierce." That's the second!
3. Les Miserables in sign language. Okay, there was singing, too, but it was a high school production and so not the greatest thing ever. But they had a sign language interpreter and it was fascinating to watch her and match up signs to the words (which I already knew by heart, being obsessed, lol).
4. Rent on Broadway.
5. My mother and Nathan Lane in The Producers, although the best part of this experience actually took place outside the theater, lol.
4. What do you like most about the place you live?
I love my neighborhood, because it's the best of the city and the suburbs combined. I live in a residential area but within walking distance of lots of shops and restaurants (and a short driving distance from about a hundred other places just like it). In DC as a whole, the free museums are pretty cool. And, much as we complain about the Metro, it's nice to have extensive public transportation access.
5. Why DOES Joss Whedon rock/suck so much?
LOL, you know, I actually stole that tag from
gabrielleabelle, except I think hers was "why does s2 [of BtVS] rock/suck so much?" Anyway, Joss rocks because he creates complex, layered stories populated with fascinating characters and witty dialogue. He sucks because he's frequently ignorant of his privilege and uses a lot of problematic tropes - sometimes unintentionally, sometimes in a failed effort to subvert them - which I'm willing to overlook when the general quality of the writing is so high, but still definitely bother the crap out of me. Also, he wrote S8.
