I kept seeing the trailer where they talked like this and was thinking, "Is that a GOOD IDEA? Maybe the people who never did that before were ON to something?"
AHAHAHAHA YES EXACTLY. You know why live singing sounds good in a theater? ACOUSTICS. AKA a thing you cannot replicate by shoving a few boom mics at people.
You know, I think the reason I liked the first trailer so much was because it was just "I Dreamed a Dream," which is quiet and sad, and so the weak vocals fit the tone of the song. But when you have a big number that's supposed to blow the doors off the place? Not so much.
