Regarding Sevenwaters: yes, the 3rd books was a whole lot of WTF? And I think I read the author had a health problem, because it was a long while until book 4 came out, and I thought she lost some of her spark. Part of what I liked about her was that she's v descriptive without getting too wrapped up in it, and I found the last 2 books she wrote didn't have the same artistry. Plus the whole plot thing.... For fantasy that is totally awesome, read The Name of the Wind. It's the first of a trilogy and it was very very good. The second got bogged down occasionally but it was also thoroughly enjoyable. I'm now on a quest for more fantasy that's not super fantastical.
