Haha, that's okay, too. :) Though I think it's subject to the same perspective issues - if your readers don't know the specific person/post you're referencing, the basic argument needs to resonate as something they've heard before. Otherwise, people are still likely to respond with, "What? Who says that? I've never heard that before." And at that point, it's difficult to back up your argument without calling out the person you didn't want to confront in the first place.
