Procrastinating with a meme

Because why work on a 5,000-word paper when you have more than a week to do it, right?
Random question meme, ganked from just about everybody at this point...
Lots of pillows or just one?
Two.
What kind of books do you read?
Uh, pretty much anything with words, lol. Right now I am digging time travel, but I also read a fair amount of SF/F in general, as well as historical fiction (which might explain the Connie Willis kick I'm on, lol, time travel + history). I also enjoy the occasional memoir (usually political, but not always).
What are your neighbors like?
I have no idea. I never see them, and even if I did, this building has so much turnover I can't even keep track of which apartments are occupied.
What's the best lesson you've ever learned?
You don't have to be the best, as long as you've done your best.
Tell 3 things you have in your point of view right now.
- Chelsea, who is forever hovering by my side (she's been rather clingy since Thanksgiving)
- The clock on the wall
- A painting of a Paris cafe (also hanging on the wall)
What's your current fandom/obsession/addiction?
Haha, does Christmas shopping count? Because I have spent more time online shopping than pretty much anything else lately. In terms of TV, nothing in particular, actually. I mean, I am still lurking around the edges of BtVS, and am pretty dedicated to a number of shows, but I'm not particularly in-depth about anything.
Do you prefer your junk food sweet, salty or savory?
Sweet AND salty, like chocolate covered pretzels or caramel popcorn.
What websites do you always visit when you go online?
Gmail, DW, LJ, Weather.com, NY Times, Washington Post
What was the last thing you bought?
Lunch from the pizza truck. (Have I mentioned lately that food trucks are the best invention ever? It's like the restaurants come to you! And DC has some brilliant ones - pizza, cupcakes, lobster rolls, Mexican, Cuban, frozen yogurt, the list goes on.)
What is your favorite flower?
I'm not a big flower person (Chelsea eats them), but roses are nice.
What is the most difficult thing you have ever done?
Oh, lord, so many to choose from. Right now, I'd say changing my major in college, weathering the last year's health problems, and deciding to start therapy are the ones that come to mind first.
What was the last meal you ate?
Lobster bisque and pita chips with pineapple mango salsa.
Do you want to learn another language?
Haha, I'd settle for remembering the one I already learned. I used to speak French, really.
Five things you want right now:
- More sleep!
- A vacation. I don't even care where.
- To be done with school
- A cheap Christmas tree
- A raise
Find the closest book currently sitting near you and flip to page 36. What is the first sentence of the second paragraph?
Uh, my entire bookshelf is closest, so I just picked one at random: "Rendell discovered that the immediate budget deficit wasn't $150 million but was closer to $250 million." Riveting stuff, I know, lol. It's from A Prayer for the City, the chronicle of current PA governor (and my former boss) Ed Rendell's first term as the mayor of Philadelphia. It's actually really good, and it's written by the author of Friday Night Lights.
What's something that someone said to you today that was amusing?
Kelly, giving me advice on what Christmas tree to buy: "Green. It must be green. If it has to be fake, then it has to be a real color. I've seen silver -- shite -- white -- also shite, but that wasn't supposed to happen."
Then, when I suggested this one (I was KIDDING, don't worry): "Um, wooooow. And it got 5 stars. I just died a little inside. NO." me: "Ooh, but the blue one would match my apartment!" Kelly: "NO. You, my dear, are a grown woman who picks trees colored from NATURE."
What are you looking forward to?
Semester break like whoa. Also Christmas.
Do you prefer boxers/briefs/tighty whities on a guy?
Boxers.
What is your favorite electronic accessory?
Does a laptop count as an accessory? If not, then I suppose my cell phone.
