Good news!

Just talked to someone in the leasing office, and it sounds like it will be easy to get out of my current lease. Apparently, the building is almost full, so they should have no problem renting out my place. As soon as the next person moves in, they'll let me out of the lease! My mother had offered to pay the rent here after I moved, so I wouldn't have to pay double (rent in DC is high enough as it is), I think because she felt guilty that she was the one who convinced me to sign a lease until January and defer grad school, rather than trusting me and being optimistic that I would get a job this summer. But if my parents are going to give me $4,800, I'd rather it go to something more fun than rent on an apartment I'm not even living in, so I'm glad it's going to work out. :)
