OMG! I didn't even NOTICE the "Brennan meets Cam - twice! - before they actually meet for the first time years later" gaffe until you pointed that out. Yeah, this episode was chock full o' that kind of sloppiness -- and I'm pretty sure it was written by the show's creator! WTF.

That said, I don't hold Bones to the highest standards, because it's sort of consistently had some believability problems (at least post-S2, but always with the question of how an ultra-rational ultra-literal person like Brennan, with zero imagination and understanding of human nature, could be a fiction writer at all -- the previous episode tried to explain some of that, I think, but not all that well). I'm mostly here for the fun characters and their zippy chemistry and -- overall -- the smart writing. BUT. This episode screwed with all of that, and left me wondering what the point was, except to make them both (and Sweets -- yes, we get it, Sweets is the audience, but even WE are not that preoccupied with what happens to them, fyi) seem like idiots. At the very least, introduce some conflict by having Booth walk the fuck away in a huff at the end there! Instead, he's like, "Okay, that's fine. Let's bump our hips together and be goofy now!" LAME.

It's pretty obvious that the producers are trying to give us what we want without actually *giving* it to us, because they're terrified of ye olde Moonlighting curse. What they don't realize is that there is no reason NOT go for it at this point, because Brennan/Booth could be fascinating as a couple. They don't have to lose their spark. Besides, we're in the 5th season now. Two more years and it's over -- just take the freaking leap already!
