Galentine's Day!

Spotted this on chaila's journal and thought it was fab, and not just because I totally failed to get my act together around the holidays to do gift!icons. The goal is to make it a meme, so feel free to spread the lady-love!

In the words of the adorable Leslie Knope, founder of Galentine's Day:

What’s Galentine’s Day? Oh, it’s only the best day of the year. Every February 13, my lady friends and I leave our husbands and our boyfriends at home and we just come and kick it breakfast-style. Ladies celebratin’ ladies... If you look inside your bags you will find a few things: A bouquet of hand crocheted flower pens, a mosaic portrait of each of you made from the crushed bottles of your favorite diet soda, and a personalized 5,000-word essay on why you are all so awesome.

In that spirit, this is my official Galentine’s Day party post! Galentine's Day is celebrated with frittatas (which you will have to take care of yourself), gifts and essays on why we're all awesome.

How it works:

-- Just comment to this post! I can't make you mosaic portraits from diet soda bottles, but I can make you other stuff, and I can certainly tell you why you're awesome.

-- If you want, include a question/request for a bit of meta or recs of a certain kind, or a fandom/character/prompt (or a couple for me to choose from), and I may make you a mini-picspam or icons, or do something totally random, if inspiration strikes. (If you want art, feel free to give me specific screencaps as well.) If my creativity fails or if I'm overcome by your awesomeness, I will write you a 5,000 word essay comment on why you are so awesome, or just note if you'd rather be told how awesome you are. :)

-- Gifts will be posted on February 13, or as soon after that as I'm able.

-- For reference, fandoms are: Being Erica, Buffy/Angel, Chuck, Community, Dexter, Doctor Who, Downton Abbey, Farscape, Friday Night Lights, Fringe, HIMYM, Homeland, Lost, Mad Men, Vampire Diaries, Veronica Mars, West Wing... dear lord, did I miss anything? Probably. If it's not on the list and it's not in the tags, feel free to ask, and if I'm familiar, it's yours!

-- You don't have to be on my flist (nor do you have to be a gal) to come to the party. If you can see this, you are invited!

OMG, this is beyond incredible... If in the next 2-3 weeks I manage to do some decent catching up on all the fics I didn't write in December, I am definitely doing this!!!

I certainly won't be taking fic requests for this XD. But it takes less time to write a 1000 words of meta than 300 words of fic, so maybe I can go for meta requests, character appreciation posts, stuff like that. Hell, I can even try to write about making cakes XD.

I love surprises, but at the same time I hate it when people tell me to surprise them completely ;). So if you work better with prompts, I'll figure something out.

Yay! More Galentine's Day! As for me, I would love an icon for Tyra Collette. So many of the icons I find for her are pretty but they're all very vulnerable or shippy, which is okay but not quite what I want (and the one I have isn't quite it either); basically, I could make good use of a defiant Tyra icon of my very own. :)
