[personal profile] next_to_normal
Got a reply back from DW support (and may I compliment them on the speediness of said reply), and unfortunately, there is no way to do what I want to do (i.e. get access-only posts to show up on your flists). Here's the deets:

To see locked posts in a feed, your friends will need to be using a feed reader which supports authentication.  LiveJournal's feed process does not do this, but there are plenty of feed readers which do.

Your friends can also subscribe to your posts by having Dreamwidth notify them when a new one is posted.  If they have access to your locked entries they'll get emails about those as well.  They can find the tracking settings by following the link from your profile.

I don't know much about RSS feeds. I know there are other feed readers out there, but unless you're already using one, I'm guessing no one would rather use that - which is still one more thing to check - instead of LJ. But on the off-chance you DO use another feed reader, that's an option.

The second paragraph might be a more practical solution, though. I don't know about anyone else, but I find it pretty annoying to track someone's entire journal, especially someone who posts as much as I do. Your inbox would be overwhelmed. :) However, I have tracked individual tags with much success on LJ, and I expect it's pretty much the same here. Since I generally only make locked posts when I'm talking about personal stuff, you can track my getting personal tag and that will pick up just about everything. You'll get an email notification whenever I post something with that tag.

In order to track a tag, go here. Check the box that says "[personal profile] next_to_normal posts a new entry tagged" and in this case, you want to select "getting personal" in the drop-down menu. Make sure the "Also notify me by email" box is checked, since I doubt anyone's checking their DW inbox if they're not checking their reading page. :)

Thoughts? Suggestions? Complaints? Let me know if you have any trouble with setting things up. I will probably make another test post in a day or so to see if it's working properly.

It seemed pretty simple to set up... Although I feel totally like a stalker now. :-)

I would never do such a thing! Because when I tried it, the robot-version-of-you muttered something about going to look for someone named "John Connor", grabbed an Uzi 9mm and stalked off, never to be seen again...
