Bye bye bacteria

I went to the doctor again today, and I suppose it's another good news/bad news situation. The good news is that my test results came back, and the C. diff bacteria, my erstwhile companion, is finally out of my system. Which I had kind of guessed, since I did feel better once I'd finished round two of the antibiotics.

The bad news is that I feel better, and not cured. I still have some symptoms, which means there's something else lurking in my intestines. My test results also showed elevated C-reactive protein, so the doctor thinks it's an inflammation in my colon, and you know what that means... Colonoscopy! Think happy thoughts in my direction on Wednesday (actually, I'll probably need them Tuesday night, lol).

Everybody keeps telling me it's not that bad - the prep is the worst part, and that can't possibly be worse than what the antibiotics did to me, so I'm trying not to be worried, lol.

Dude, if I never have to poop in a cup again, it'll be too soon.

And I appreciate the restraint. Good news is that I can mix the prep stuff with Crystal Light so it tastes better.

The doc said I'll be in what's called "twilight sleep" - in other words, they give me enough Valium to make me really loopy, so I might be awake but feeling no pain. My parents said they've always gotten anesthesia, but then I would have had to wait longer to get an appointment, and I just want this OVER with.

I've had the test and the prep really is the worst part. All that flushing out your innards is a messy nuisance.

Heh, I'm used to a messy nuisance by now.

It was the part where the doctor said, "You can watch [me stick a camera up your butt] on the TV screen if you want," that I made the face in my icon, lol.

The prep for a colonoscopy is way more annoying than the procedure itself. For that all you do is lie there while they give you the good drugs. *g*
