People!

Why did no one tell me this was a thing?? New Les Miserables movie (this time with singing!) = CLEARLY IN MY INTERESTS. Plus, my Broadway crush, Aaron Tveit, is playing Enjolras, and - as of now - there are ZERO Jonas Brothers in the cast. What could be better?

See Aaron spin!

And then this happened.

WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY????????

Although, when you think about it, I guess Taylor Swift IS the perfect person to play a character described as a “pale, puny, meager creature" with a voice like "a drunken galley slave’s."

I'm so looking forward to this movie! :D

But the Taylor Swift news has definitely put a bit of a dampener on it. Not happy about this at all!

I'm also so hot for this movie. I recently saw it on stage again and I so want to have.

But to cast Swift in the one real goo female role in the thing, that's definitely a bad move...

Are there any other casting spoilers yet? Is the internet finally going to fill with Valjean/Javert slash (of which there is appallingly little, not that I googled....)

edit: Just googled the cast. Hm...Jackman is cool for the role but can he sing? Not so fond of Russel Crowe...somehow I always find him somewhat annoying and I am not sure he can pull of the special kind of crazy Javert has. They should have gotten Malkovic again, that would have been perfect.

Yay, Les Mis! Boo, Taylor Swift. I am so not a fan of her overplayed self. Though I did giggle madly at a “pale, puny, meager creature" with a voice like "a drunken galley slave’s."

Well, if you think about it, Taylor Swift as Eponine can't be worse than a Jonas Brother as Marius in the 25th Anniversary concert. I'm swell with Hugh Jackman - that man can sing! And Anne Hathaway's got a good set of pipes as well. See this, one of the best opening numbers in Oscar history. So I'm cool with Valjean and Fantine. Eddie Redmayne is one of my intellectual crushes. Don't know if he can sing (I know he's been on Broadway for plays, so he's got good acting chops), but I like him for Marius. Amanda Seyfriend has a reedy little voice, so I'm not expecting much from her. And Russel Crowe as Javert . . . this is the one that I'm side-eyeing even more than Taylor Swift. They can have a crappy Eponine and survive, but if they have a crappy Javert the whole thing falls apart. So Swift's going to be crucified by the critics and musical fans together. If she's smart she wouldn't take the role, because after that her movie career will be going down the toilet fast. I wouldn't even mind Lea Michele over Taylor Swift, and she's been campaigning for the role like crazy. She annoys me on Glee, but rather her than insipid Taylor Swift.
