1.What author do you own the most books by?
Um... does it count if I own the complete works of Shakespeare, but they're all in one book? If not, then it's a tie between Jim Butcher and J.R.R. Tolkien.
2.What book do you own the most copies of?
The Bible. I have the whole thing in NIV and NRSV, and a couple versions of just the New Testament. All but one copy are at my parents' house, though. Bookshelf space is at a premium in this apartment.
3.Did it bother you that both those questions ended with prepositions?
No.
4.What fictional character are you secretly in love with?
Laurie from Little Women. Might have something to do with Christian Bale in the movie.
5.What book have you read the most times in your life (excluding picture books read to children; i.e., Goodnight Moon does not count)?
Probably The Princess Bride.
6.What was your favorite book when you were ten years old?
I don't actually remember that far back. At one point, I was absolutely in love with A Ring of Endless Light by Madeleine L'Engle, but I think I was a little older - eleven or twelve, maybe.
7.What is the worst book you've read in the past year?
I haven't really read any bad ones, although it took me for-freakin-ever to finish Neverwhere.
8.What is the best book you've read in the past year?
Turn Coat, by Jim Butcher.
9.If you could force everyone to read one book, what would it be?
Up until recently, I wanted to force everyone to read Stuff Happens by David Hare, but the new administration seems to have rendered that unnecessary.
10. What book would you most like to see made into a movie?
Uh... I dunno. Most of my favorites are already movies, lol. Maybe Rage by Richard Bachman (Stephen King).
11.What book would you least like to see made into a movie?
The Jungle by Upton Sinclair.
12.Describe your weirdest dream involving a writer, book, or literary character.
I don't recall any, but I usually don't remember my dreams very well.
13.What is the most lowbrow book you've read as an adult?
When I first got into BtVS and fanfic, I picked up this trashy vampire romance novel, thinking perhaps I might like the genre. (I didn't.) I don't remember what it was called, but I know it wasn't any of the popular vampire series.
14.What is the most difficult book you've ever read?
Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man by James Joyce, although I use the term "read" here loosely, since I definitely didn't finish it.
15. What is the most obscure Shakespeare play you've seen?
Measure for Measure. I'm still not entirely sure what it's about.
16. Do you prefer the French or the Russians?
French, although that's mostly arbitrary based on the fact that I've read maybe 3 French authors and zero Russian.
17. Roth or Updike?
I don't think I've actually read either.
18.David Sedaris or Dave Eggers?
I've only read Eggers, but I liked him.
19. Shakespeare, Milton, or Chaucer?
Shakespeare.
20. Austen or Eliot?
I've... never read Austen. (Am I the only person in the world?) So, Eliot.
21.What is the biggest or most embarrassing gap in your reading?
Clearly, there's quite a few, given these "either or" questions.
22.What is your favorite novel?
*flails* I can't choose!
23. Play?
Stuff Happens
24. Poem?
High Flight
25.Essay?
Um... I can't actually think of any off the top of my head.
26.Work of nonfiction?
Prayer for the City by Buzz Bissinger
27.Who is your favorite writer?
*flails again*
28.Who is the most overrated writer alive today?
Stephenie Meyer
29.What is your desert island book?
Something really long, so I have to reread it less. Maybe the unabridged version of Les Miserables, except we all know I'm just going to skip the boring parts anyway.
30.And... what are you reading right now?
I just finished Son of the Shadows by Juliette Marillier. I'll probably go to the library tomorrow to get the other two books in the trilogy. I started with the middle one first, oopsie.
