Food!
Okay, this is the last question from the request post, so if you have any burning questions, now's the time to ask 'em.
brunettepet asked, "What is your favorite thing to eat when you eat out? How about when you cook at home?"
Oh, man. Okay, first things first. I love food, of pretty much any kind. It's nearly impossible to narrow it down to one favorite thing. Usually, if asked for a favorite food, I'll say my mom's lasagna, because it's good, Italian comfort food. But honestly, there's so much to choose from.
And now, it's just about time for lunch!

Let's see. I really enjoy going out to eat, because it's a chance to get fancy dishes that I'd never cook at home. I'm pretty lazy in the kitchen, as well as not very adventurous, so I don't usually do complicated meals or create my own recipes or anything, and so going out is an opportunity to try new things and to satisfy the craving for really good food. I'm a big fan of seafood (I've been eating crab legs since I was about 7 years old, and I'll eat anything from shrimp to calamari to mussels, and several different kinds of fish), which is again, something I don't cook for myself, so I usually like to get that when I go to a nice restaurant. I'm also a fan of pretty much anything Italian, so seafood and pasta is usually a brilliant combination.
When I'm at home, I stick to a few basic dishes. Like I said, I keep it simple, so probably the most complicated thing I make is tacos, lol (all that chopping!). I also do a nice honey dijon chicken. Pasta is, again, a staple, particularly if I've got my mom's spaghetti sauce on hand. I made a meatloaf once, using my mother's recipe, and it actually turned out relatively well. I kind of impressed myself. I recently got a George Foreman (I live in an apartment, so an actual grill is out of the question), and I really like doing steaks on the grill. I've been thinking of branching out and trying fish on there, but I'm not quite that adventurous yet. I do burgers sometimes, too.
I eat a lot of salad, although still not enough to eat all the lettuce before it goes bad. Seriously, why can't the supermarket sell romaine in smaller packages? Lately, I've been buying individual-sized salad packs, because I can eat a few of them a week and not have to throw half a bag of lettuce out. I think that's part of the reason why I don't cook more - buying fresh food is hard. The grocery store is the only place I have to drive to (I walk to work, to restaurants, the drugstore, liquor store, etc.), so I only go shopping once a week at most, usually more like once every two weeks, which makes it hard to keep fresh stuff (especially fruits and vegetables) around.

I eat a lot of salad, too, but even the heads of lettuce seem to be too much to get through in a week unless you're eating lettuce three times a day. It's not a favorite breakfast food and my husband doesn't consider it food at all!

I've tried so many things - the packaged romaine, where I can usually get through one or two hearts before it goes bad, the loose romaine, which is one huge heart that goes bad a lot quicker than the packaged ones, and heads of iceberg lettuce, which totally just isn't worth my time. I might try buying spinach and make spinach salads, maybe that will keep better.

Italian's a fave of mine, too. There's no love lost between my Italian ex-stepmother and I, but her mother had a huge heart and showed love with food. I have many wonderful memories of staying with my "grandparents" as a little kid and the delicious aromas constantly emitting from her kitchen!

And there's nothing better than an Italian kitchen. My mom was a "half-breed" - that's what my dad's side of the family called her - but she could cook better than all of them.

I love lettuce, it never lasts long enough as my house.. My 4 year old would sooner eat a bowl of lettuce with vinaigrette than spaghetti bolognese. Go figure!
Tacos are nice but too much hassle, all that chopping you mentioned and then they brake when you eat them! Burritos, man! Lately we've been having lots of beef enchiladas. Easy to make and it tastes like lasagna but it's lighter.
Food.. I love food... *sigh*
