Question meme

I'm just going to apologize in advance... it's really slow in work, and will be for the next month or so, so I may end up spamming my f-list with stupid shit to keep me occupied when there's nothing to do. Sorry... But at least this time, when I post a bazillion memes, I'm at least posting fic regularly along with it (unlike that stretch earlier this year where it was nothing but mindless stuff).

Anyway, so I've been going through the list of people who have friended me, but I haven't friended them, and checking out journals to see if there's anything that interests me. I've added a few people, so if you randomly got a friending notice out of the blue, that's why. I've also been snagging memes from people here and there. This one's from [personal profile] dawnofme, just a random assortment of questions:

1. In five words, explain what ended your last friendship?
She moved. We drifted apart.

2. How was your prom night?
Which one? I went to three. Sophomore year, I went with a guy named Greg. He was nice, but we weren't really close or anything. I think he just didn't have a date, and since I was only a sophomore, I was just excited to be asked. Haven't talked to him since he graduated. Junior year, I went with my boyfriend at the time, Ed #1 (I dated two of them). I don't actually remember much, but it was fun. Senior year, I went with Joe, who was a good friend of mine. The dance was at the aquarium, which was freakin' awesome, and we had a blast. I never did anything after prom, like go to the shore (I grew up in NJ, so that was pretty much where everyone went), and I remember at least one year, I had to work the next day (blech).

3. Do you have any famous relatives?
Not that I know of.

4. Have you taken out loans to pay for college?
No. I got scholarships, and my parents paid for the rest.

5. What did you receive last in the mail?
Probably junk mail, or a DVD from Blockbuster. I don't really remember.

6. What beverages have you drank today?
None, actually, although I'm kind of thirsty, so I'll probably get water.

7. Do you leave nasty messages on people's answering machines?
No. I hate leaving voice mails. I always get flustered and sound stupid.

8. What's the most painful surgical procedure you've had done?
I've never had surgery.

9. What is out your back door?
I don't have a back door. I live in an apartment. There's a 10-story drop out my back windows, though...

10. Do you usually go out on the weekends?
Sometimes. My two closest friends are unemployed right now, so they've gotten into this habit of going out on Tuesday and Wednesday nights. I'm like, "Guys! I have to go to work tomorrow!" I usually go out one night on the weekend, and then spend the rest of it sleeping, cleaning my apartment, and running errands.

11. Do you like what the ocean does to your hair?
Not particularly. Is there anyone that enjoys sandy, salty, wind-blown hair?

12. Have you ever visited a planetarium or do you even know what one is?
I don't think I've ever been... wait, is there a planetarium at the Franklin Institute? I can't remember...

13. What is your favorite flavor of pudding?
Chocolate

14. Describe your keychains:
Heh, I love my keychain. It says, "So many pedestrians, so little time." I saw a matching one that said, "If you don't like the way I drive, get off the sidewalk," but I didn't buy it. Wish I had.

15. Where do you keep your change?
In my wallet. I also have a pile of pennies in a dish, from when I get too many and have to empty out my wallet. I should go to a CoinStar or something and get rid of them all.

16. When was the last time you got up and spoke in front of a large crowd?
Uh... a couple weeks ago, I had to make a report before the State Board of Education.

17. What kind of winter coat do you have?
I have a white, knee-length wool coat (which really ought to be dry cleaned before next winter).

18. What was the weather like on your graduation day?
High school was beautiful and sunny, right up until we all got seated, and then it started to rain. Fortunately, I was the salutatorian, so I was one of the few people that got to sit on the (covered!) platform. That's motivation to do well in school - you won't get rained on! My college graduation actually had a rain delay - the President kept saying, "It'll pass, it'll pass," and we ended up starting an hour late, but once we did, it was sunny.

19. Do you sleep with the door to your bedroom open or closed?
Open. I always slept with it closed, from when I was a kid all the way through college, but now I like to let the cat be able to roam in and out.

20. Is there anything purple within 20 feet of you?
There's a map of Pennsylvania hanging up on the wall, and a few of the counties are shades of purple.

21. What is the strangest thing you've put in the microwave?
My stuffed cat. Except that wasn't me, that was my dad, and I was completely traumatized. (I was also probably about 7.)

22. Can you speak any Japanese?
Nope.

23. Do you look good in the color yellow?
I do, in fact. I look good in most bright colors.

24. Do you spit or smoke?
No.

25. What is your favorite color(s)?
Blue.

26. Ever played an instrument?
Yep, played the piano since I was 6, and picked up the flute in high school. Haven't touched the flute since high school, but I can still play the piano a bit.

7. Do you believe in Bigfoot, or Sasquatch?
No.

28. Ever been to a palm reader?
No.

29. Did they tell you the truth about your future?
N/A

30. What are you thinking about at this very moment?
That I hope my boss isn't watching me.

31. Have you ever received a black eye?
No.

32. What is your biggest current disappointment?
Hmm... I don't know. I'm pretty un-disappointed right now. I'm kind of sad to be missing DragonCon, but not enough to, y'know, spend money.

33. What are some of your favorite drinks?
I like Cherry Coke and Mountain Dew. Alcoholic drinks, l like rum & Coke, pina coladas, daquiris, and margaritas (okay, basically, if it comes with a little umbrella in it, I'm there).

34. Do you have anything that hurts on your body at this time?
Nope.

35. Have you ever ridden in a taxi?
Yeah. In New York and London. Oh, and we took a taxi to the airport in Paris, and I was frightened for my life.

36. What is the last alcoholic drink you had?
A Bay Breeze. My friend asked the bartender for something "fruity with vodka," and that's what we got.

37. Did you do anything special last night?
I volunteered at the AIDS Community Alliance with two of my friends, and then we got Chinese food afterwards. It's pretty much what we do every Tuesday, so not really special.

38. What is your very favorite food?
Lasagna (my mom's)

Taxis in Paris are a very special kind of frightening, y/y :D

I see we share the love of chocolate pudding and rum/coke. When I did this meme, I totally forgot the taxi ride I had in Vegas. It was the scariest ride with the driver switching lanes with us being tossed back and forth on the back seat. Sort of like stock car racing.

Hey there! Glad to be friended :) I love your answers. LOL! at #30.

When you mentioned the Taxi in Paris, it reminded me that I did take one taxi in Paris as well. It was tiny and we were crammed in. We'd snuck out for the night while our French teacher was sleeping at the hotel and we got stuck at Sacre Coeur after the Metro was closed. The streets weren't that busy. I was more fearful of possibly getting caught being out with our chaperon to be afraid of the driving. I was glad he was going fast. LOL!
