Another question meme
This one snagged from
maharet83.
01. Your middle name, or explain your chosen name: My middle name is Marie. My family's Catholic, so pretty much everyone's middle name is some version of Mary, lol.
02. Mental age: I guess pretty close to my actual age, at this point. When I was a kid, I always got along better with grown-ups than with people my own age, but... now I actually am a grown-up.
03. Single or in a relationship: Single.
04. Favorite book: The Princess Bride.
05. Favorite song or album: My current obsession is still the Next to Normal soundtrack.
06. What do you believe is your calling in life? I don't believe in "callings." Do whatever makes you happy.
07. What's your worst recurring nightmare/biggest fear? I really only have one recurring nightmare - it's the teeth-falling-out anxiety dream. It's actually more of a recurring theme, since the circumstances change every time I have the dream, but it always ends with my teeth falling out, which totally grosses me out.
08. Faith, have you any? And if so, what, and if not, why not? Not so much. I grew up apathetically Catholic, went through a rekindling of faith in college, but I gave up on God when He gave up on me.
09. Do you know your LJ friends outside of LJ? I have met a few in RL, yes.
10. What's your philosophy on life? It sucks, and then you die.
11. Is the bottle half-full or half-empty?: Neither. It's empty, 'cause I drank the whole bottle.
12. Would you tell me something painful if it was in my best interest? It depends on what it is and how well I know you.
13. What is your favorite memory? I don't know. I have lots of good ones, mostly from family vacations.
14. What is your favorite guilty pleasure? I'm doing it right now.
15. Tell me one odd/interesting fact about you: I don't like chocolate ice cream. I will eat chocolate in any other form, but NOT chocolate ice cream.
16. If you could have three wishes, what would they be? Enough money to travel everywhere I want to go, the ability to eat as much as I want and not gain weight, and to find someone who loves me as much as my cat does, but is less distracted by shiny things. :)
17. What is your favorite food? Too much to choose from! I'm such a foodie.
18. Which country is your spiritual home? The one I'm from, I guess. I mean, I would like to live in other countries, but not because I feel like I belong there, just because those places are awesome.
19. What is your biggest weakness? Procrastination.
20. Do you think you are a good person? I'm not a bad one, at least.
21. What was your best/favorite subject at school? Best? All of them. I was a super overachiever. Favorite? I guess chemistry at the time, since that's what I decided to do as a career (only to change my mind two years later...).
22. Describe your accent: Generic American accent. I occasionally get some Philly accent seeping in, but I deliberately try to avoid talking like my grandmother, lol.
23. If you could change anything about yourself, would you? Yes. Lots of things, lol. Maybe to make it easier, I should just change my self-loathing?
24. What do you wear to sleep? Pajamas. Sometimes they actually match!
25. Gender identity? Female.
26. Affectionate/sexual orientation? Heterosexual, but mostly not interested.
27. If you only had one day to live, what would you do? Haha, probably be overwhelmed at all the things I want to do but don't have time for.

I hate the teeth-falling-out dream. I have that one a lot, and it always squicks me. It doesn't help that in recent real life, I went through a period when several of my teeth cracked for no apparent reason. So now I've added breaking/cracking teeth to my dreams.
Re: Philly accent
I once took one of those online accent tests, and the results said that I was "as Philadelphian as cheesesteak." That rather surprised me, because I've lived in New England for so long that I figured my accent would have changed a bit and been less identifiable. I do try to avoid saying "Iggles," though.
Re: favorite song or album
I also tend to go through phases in which I play s particular CD over and over. Right now, that CD happens to be "Keating," which is an absolutely awesome musical.

Gah, I don't know why, but my teeth falling out freaks me out SO MUCH. It's not like I've had bad experiences with my teeth, either. I've barely ever had cavities. And, I mean, in terms of "body parts you could lose," teeth are pretty low on the critical list, but I never dream about anything else falling off! So, so weird.
Never heard of Keating, but I just googled, and now I might have to give it a listen, because musical theater + politics = so my thing!

(Anonymous) 2010-10-06 05:10 am (UTC)(link)but i read most of that "philly speak" article, and i can definitely see the thing about "t"s. seamus makes fun of the way i say "kitten" or "button", it comes out more like "kit-in" or "but-in". at least i think. then i can't even can't even say the word how it's supposed to be pronounced.
and i don't think i've ever had the teeth falling out dream. i always have a dream where i have to scream (for help or something) but i can't, or it's not loud enough.
also, i am procrastinating studying for my clin path midterm by reading your journal.

That article always cracks me up - I don't personally do most of the things in it, but I totally have family members who do!
