I think that we Into the Woods fans have to be grateful for the excellent filmed-stage production we already have - which is really beautifully done, imo, and translates surprisingly well across the mediums.
I've got no plans to see the new film. For me, it was not casting the same actor for the Wolf and Cinderella's Prince that was the dealbreaker - and for similarly thematic reasons, I hadn't heard that bit about the Baker's Wife, ugh that's just dreadful. I agree that a straight film could be amazing, but I'm not sure that it's possible with the structure required of contemporary blockbusters.
