Even more Lost thoughts
I've made it as far as episode 16. I should note that I've started making a list of all the unanswered questions and things that don't make sense. This is not to be super-obsessive about things making sense, because I realize that way lies madness, but rather it is a product of my BSG experience. See, I got into BSG pretty late, while the final season was airing, and at that point, all the conversations had been had, the theories had been formed. When the finale aired, and so many people were like, "But they didn't give us the answers!" my reaction was often, "What were the questions?" So, knowing that a lot of people think this shit makes no sense, I've started keeping a tally of things I find that don't make sense, and then waiting to see how many of them get answered.
Anyway, that's the plan. Thoughts on this stretch of episodes under the cut.
Hail of bullets!

- Haha, Charlie seems to have gotten over his heroin addiction right quick, hasn't he? But he is kind of adorable, so I'll forgive him. The imaginary peanut butter, awww. And him trying not to read Claire's diary, LOL.
- Am I the only one (besides Charlie, obvs) who was like, "WTF? Why is no one DOING anything to find Claire??" I mean, I get that it's a big island and they can't just go wandering through the jungle, but still. They're like, "We all want to find Claire... as long as we don't actually have to exert any effort to do it. In fact, it would be really awesome if she would just magically appear back at camp without us doing anything." I guess it's a good thing that's what happened.
- Still hate Sawyer.
- I am really amused that Shannon is still wearing makeup on the island. Talk about your futile gestures, lol. No wonder everyone thinks she's useless. Her brother's kinda lame, too, but at least he tries.
- Aww, I sympathize with Hurley and his digestive issues. I would not do well on a deserted island.
- Locke has officially been upgraded from "weirdo" to "one crazy mofo."
- Cam! Cam is Walt's mother! I miss Cam, now that Bones and I are broken up.
- Oh, the hatch. The legendary hatch. I don't know what that means, but it seemed important when people talked about the show.
- There are a lot of episodes that open on close-ups of people's eyes. I don't know what that means, either.
- I totally would not have noticed this if I hadn't just watched it, but... "I think he's buying some paper company up in Slough" from Charlie's flashback. The Office reference?
- The scoring on this show seems particularly intrusive. Maybe it's just that I'm used to the brilliance of W.G. Snuffy Walden or Bear McCreary, but wow, talk about overusing your music cues. Why don't they just have flashing text on the screen that says, "THIS IS REALLY SUSPENSEFUL"? Jesus, it would be subtler than this.

And yes, Locke is, in fact, one crazy mofo. He only gets crazier. He's never been my favorite, but I can definitely appreciate that he is fascinating (and Terry O'Quinn is great -- just wait until he and Michael Emerson are in scenes together. It's magical).
From your comment above, it sounds like you're definitely approaching this right -- I think I would have liked its ending better if I didn't have six years of speculation filled baggage going into the finale. I don't think anything could have actually lived up to my expectations. *sigh*
(Also, good catch on the eyes. Definitely keep a look out for that).

Haha, you know, I kind of get that feeling watching it. Because I've heard so many crazy things and seen so many OMGWTFBBQ reactions from people that it's kind of amusing to come into it and find that it starts out as a pretty straightforward plotty story about people stranded on a deserted island, but knowing it turns into this behemoth of mystery and madness.
