Day 01 - A show that never should have been canceled
I have to admit, I had a hard time here. Because I think the cancellation that most devastated me was Veronica Mars. And I feel like I probably shouldn't complain, because we did get three seasons out of it, and in all fairness, the show was never as good as its first season, but I LOVED IT SO. I would have watched Veronica be awesome and snarky forever, and the shipper in me wishes that Veronica and Logan's on-again, off-again relationship had been in a better place when we had to say goodbye to them. Their love is EPIC, okay?
At the time, I thought the ending was really unsatisfying. It felt unsettling, as though in almost every situation, you KNOW that things are going to be worse than they were before. But then, that's very true to the show, and to Veronica's cynical outlook, and the two-part series finale is among my favorite VM episodes. But it kind of goes to what a lot of people have been saying about Joss Whedon lately - he's very, very good at tearing down characters, and terrible at building them back up again. And I felt like just about everyone on Veronica Mars, but especially Veronica and Keith, had been torn down by the end of season 3, and I desperately wanted to see them built back up, but we never got the chance.
Honorable Mentions: I really enjoyed Life and Kings - the former lasted two seasons, the latter only one, but I'd have watched much, much more.

YES! This is why the ending of Vmars has always been unsettling for me. A huge part of the show was Veronica battling with her cynical outlook, but Season 3 was often about her falling prey to it and being proven right. Then she becomes so convinced her cynicism is justified that she loses sight of her father's fall from grace in order to protect her. So they both fall prey to cynicism and it's just heartbreaking.

And yes to your paragraph about the ending: I absolutely love the ending on a meta level, the whole "full circle" thing, and Veronica and that song and the rain. But I definitely see what you mean about dragging them down.
Maybe, eventually, I'll write post-series VMars fic to fix things.
Though that would involve watching the episode sin S3 that I never watched....AND OMG I'M TOTALLY DOING THIS MEME. This is totally my kind of thing.

WORD.
I love VM. I should sit down and watch it all over again because I have only seen most of season 1 and most of season 3.. I do own s1 and s3. Need to find season 2, it keeps eluding me for some reason!
